After meetings with A&M staff both in New York and California,
Karen's solo LP was shelved. It's said that after listening
to it's playback, A&M in California were in a dead silence.
It didn't seem to go over well there. Although Karen had
said the LP was shelved to continue with the Carpenters works,
it broke her heart. Her solo was released years after her
passing in 1996.

The
last special the Carpenters did. This one was their
favorite because it's focus was on music rather than humor
in the previous TV specials.

Newsletter entry: The
marriage will be performed in an Olde English style garden
setting and Karen will be attended
by a matron-of-honor and ten bridesmaids. One of the two
little flower girls (Ashley) and her twin
brother (Andrew) will be ring-bearer, are Karen's 5
year old God-children. The other little flower girl (Brooke)
is their 5 year old cousin. Tom's younger
brother Richard will be Best Man, and of
course the bride will be given away by her father. Prominent
Beverly Hills designer Bill Belew has been assigned the prestigious
task of designing the bride's gown, and will be responsible
for the attire of the bridal entourage.
The color scheme was lavender and peach
which included orchids flown from Hawaii for the occasion.
Karen was
certainly showered with loads beautiful gifts, but admitted
feeling more nervous at her bridal shower than any Carpenters concert!
Actually she never looked happier, except course on her wedding
day. Celebrities at the shower included the Bee Gee's mother
and sister, Dareth Newley, Olivia Newton-John, Mrs. Mike
Curb, Mrs.
Jerry Weintraub, Mrs. Herb Alpert and
of course the mothers of the engaged couple.

Until
now, Karen focused mainly on her career and her body. She
finally found what she wanted.
What she believed would be the therapy in winning the
battle with anorexia.....a marriage.....to Tom Burris. Soon
after, their marriage was having troubles. This
truly broke her heart.
She always wanted a marriage and children.
