Both Karen and Richard were very driven. Even though
both were battling with their own evils, Karen with the anorexia
and Richard with the addiction to sleeping pills, they wanted
to continue working. They went to work on their album
"Passage."
Karen's health during this year
was still of great concern.
She suffered what she had described as "a ministroke"
during a visit to Morsound equipment and rehearsal warehouse
in North Hollywood. One side of her face went
numb. No one knows to what depth of seriousness this
was since only Richard and a Morsound employee was present
at the time and Karen dismissed it. Richard thought
she visited the doctor for this, but not sure.
Late 1977, Karen was displaying more
concern over Richard's addiction than to her own health. She
was strongly pushing Richard to seek treatment. Taking
care of others is a very common trait with anorexics. Even
with her "ministroke" and voiced concerns from
friends, her own troubles were put aside. If you look at
photo's in 1977, you can start to notice the wear on Karen's
body. Looking
at her eye's you can see the physical exhaustion. But no
matter what, Karen kept going.
