Carl, thank you for posting the link to the drummerworld forum. It's very nice to know that Karen's thread got lots of responses.
I am one of old LeadSister members, but I cannot recall if we have talked about Karen in drummerworld.
I might visit Jim Gordon page on the site and mention it, and other members may have posted the links or photos in drummerworld.
I just read some of posts about Karen in drummerworld. I love they talked about Karen's techinique on "Music Music Music" Special at Drum Technique section, posted the link to Modern Drummer article about Karen on LeadSister main page and mentioned Buddy Rich's comment about Karen!
The founder of drummerworld may not be interested in female drummer. I haven't seen his post in female drummers thread.
Some quotes from the female drummers thread in drummerworld.

The first female drummer that I remember going, "OMG! She's really, really good for a girl", was Karen Carpenter, back in the seventies! Even Buddy Rich thought she was amazing.
She's me ALL-TIME favorite female drummer, and there's a bunch of her drum-clips on YouTube, that'll knock your socks off...
Play On! ;-)

Ive seen a 2 year old play better than Meg White. She can hardly keep a beat. She is a horrible horrible drummer sorry to say.

Meg White is shocking. When she hits the kcik twice she has to hit with her hand twice because she has no cowardnation........Ive seen it live (unfortunatley) I hate bagging out drummers and im not one to but the worst professional drummer on earth would be Meg White
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLESpHrtvxs http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/showthr...5852&page=4 I think Jayne(whsoxfan) posted, several years ago, that
Karen beat out John Bonham as #1 drummer in 1972 or 1973.
Last autumn Pamela(LeadSister who owned this forum) mentioned John Bonham in the Playboy music poll. Karen beat out John Bonham in 1975?
I think I read that Karen was
#5 drummer on Playboy poll 1979 in fan club newsletter.
QUOTE (Richard Carpenter Fan1 @ Feb 6 2008, 11:33 PM)

She did drum, but, you may or may not know this: She only did the drumming out on the road, and, they always had someone in the studio to do her drumming for her.
Even if Dana(currently, Richard Carpenter Fan1) is a new fan and hasn't read credits about drums on Carpenters CD's, Dana could have checked the official site and should have read credits about drums, I think. Or I am not good at English so I don't understand Dana's words.
Hal Blaine played the drums on "Close To You". First Karen's drum version and not Ricarhd's piano version have not been surfaced yet, though they recorded the versions.
Karen played the drums on world wide hits, "Yesterday Once More" and "Please Mr. Postman"!!Songs on studio albums, Karen played the drums on;
Herb Alpert's notes at Carpenters first album "Offering";
QUOTE
The vocal sound is a product of Richard and Karen Carpenter. In addition to the vocals Karen (age 19) plays drums on all the selections and on two of the offerings she plays electric bass...

book "Drummer" published, March 2007
http://ec2.images-amazon.com/images/I/416i...CNL._SS500_.jpgBoth magazine Feb. and the book have Karen's biography and article about Karen's drumming style. The magazine has interviews with Richard and Joe Osborn about Karen's drums.
The book also has analysis on Karen's drums about earlier songs on "from the top"or "Offering" to live performing. The writer thinks that Karen did spread single head toms.
I'd love to read American drums magazine article which futured Karen!! Does any music magazine interview Joe Osborn about Karen's drumming?
