New! Hi!

Well hi!.. i'm new to this forum and to be honest i'm not really the forum kind of person, but I thought.. why not give it a second chance?
I am kind of a 'The Carpenters fan' exception I suppose..
I'm 17 turning 18 this month and I like the Carpenters. Most people my age have never even heard of them, if I mention a song they go like.. 'OH! I KNOW THAT SONG!' And when I tell them it's from The Carpenters they go like.. 'who?.. well I just heard that song on a commercial once, so that's why I know it'... get my drift?
Ok, well i'm not critising them, they like other stuff.. I like The Carpenters!
I've actually known about them for as long as I can remember, my mother used to play their songs all the time when me and my brother were little and I developed a kind of sentimental love for the song Top of the World... and since English is not my native language I blame their songs among other things for my obsession with the English language. I love English for some odd reason and actually don't get why I was born in the Netherlands.. I think there was some mix up before my birth and the-power-that-be placed me in the wrong country.. something like that.. okay you might notice some odd grammar mistakes here and there,.. but that's because I can't speak English all day long due to the fact that most of my friends speak Dutch..
ANYWAY!
Enough babbling!.. the thing is i'd love to talk to other Carpenters fans around here! and well what does age difference actually matter?

Welcome Jacq!
Age makes no difference in musical tastes! People like what they like, no matter how old they are.

Welcome! Age doesn't matter at all. I think I am a young fan (from the beginning 1970) and I am 42....and then there are people of all ages who have become fans through the years.
I was 5 when Close to You came out.....my older sisters (21 and 16) loved the Carpenters and therefore, so did I.

Hi Jacq!!!!....Do I tell you something?...U sound like me when I was 14 years old, now I'm 17, I'm from Ecuador and I do really know wxactly how you feel about Carpenters and english, I speak spanish and believe me Carpenters and lead sister have helped me improving my english a lot!!!!....Btw,I'm mafer, and I also have to live with people who are all like "wtf" when u talk about a carpenters song
...However, we can make a difference and we're doing it with the simple fact of loving Karen's voice a lot.

Hello Jacq!
You and my daughter share the same (formal) name.
Welcome!
As has been stated many times already, age does not get in the way here.
BTW, your english is quite easy to read ... no problems.
