I'm sure most of you know who Mafalda is.
The cartoon's been around for over 40 years, do you think Karen ever read it?

Is Mafalda the one who hated the soup?
I think I have heard about it and I've seen it before...

I really don't know if Karen read it, but maybe Karen knew about it...

Yes, she's the one that hates the soup. (with good reason)
Personally i don't like her as much as i like Libertad, a friend of Mafalda.
Right now my favorite cartoon is Mutts.

Hi Trisce!!!

You know, Mafalda is an argentine cartoon. Here, people love it and it's like apple pie in US. The catoonist who created it is Quino and he's my favourite of my country.
I love all mafalda's characters like Guille, Libertad, Felipe, Miguelito, Susanita & Manolito.

It's very common here to girls who wants to marry and have lots of children are defined as "Susanitas", Often you could hear "You're a real Susanita"

I'm very happy & proud that Mafalda is well-known in many countries!

Regards

JohnnyAngel,
Of course i knew Mafalda is from Argentina!
I grew up reading Mafalda... oh! the things she's taught me.
I know a lot Susanitas too, but i have to admitt i have a Miguelito inside...
sometimes a Felipe (when i have to work, usually), and yes, sometimes i do feel like Susanita.
Everytime i think of them, i can't help but smile, i think i'll read it again.
I met Quino two years ago, here in La Paz, he came for the Book Fair, nice man, really quiet and shy.

Maybe some explanation is needed since Renata does not know what we're talking about!
Here:
Mafalda is a precocious girl, always concerned about humanity, peace, and human rights. She hates soup (well, 'hate' is too soft a word for it). She's quite a patriot, and she loves the Beatles.
Felipe hates school and homework, and fantasizes about his school being destroyed. He likes comics, specially the Lone Ranger. Felipe has this habit of torturing himself with guilty feelings as soon as he starts having fun.
Manolito (Manuel Goreiro) takes the term "entrepeneur" to a new level. You don't know anything about money until you meet Manolito. He works at his father's store, and he's not too crazy about the Beatles.
Susanita (Susana Clotilde Chirusi) is a hopeless flirt, and also a hopelessly prejudiced snob. The only thing she can think about is becoming a mother when she grows up, although she makes time for hating Manolito, of course.
Libertad is tiny and simple, but what a character! She's the shortest and the most sarcastic character, who wants things to be simpler and she says everything she thinks, without worrying a little! She's just like what her name suggests: Freedom.
Guille is Mafalda's little brother. Brigitte Bardot's #1 fan.
Miguelito (Miguel Pitti) is another pal of Mafalda's. He's gets down very often and he's really imaginative.
Mom (Raquel) is a housewife. Dad is about 37 years old, and he works for an insurance company. He loves his plants, and naturally hates ants.
Hope it helps!

Yes it helps!!! Sounds that you really love that cartoon!!!! It seems to be so funny! I've seen the characters but I can't remember their faces so well, just Mafalda's one, I do remember her (IMG:http://www.leadsister.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
