Hi Carpenters fans,
First things first, my name is David and I live in California. It's great to live in the same state where Karen and Richard flourished. I first became a Carpenters fan about 3 years ago from listening to the radio. I am obsessed with 60s music and everything about the decade, so I listen to oldies stations all the time. From time to time, listening to the radio at work, I could recall hearing a song on the radio, a very soft voice accompanied by a piano arrangement that was very quiet, then a horn solo that made the song even more dramatic. The vocal just dominated the song. Of all the times that I heard it, the announcer never mentioned the artists name. But one evening, the song came on again and he announced it was the Carpenters. The song of course was Close To You. A thought immediately ran in my mind, the Carpenters? I remember seeing pictures of the Carpenters in music encyclopedia type books, etc., and I just always assumed that they were country artists. I don't know why. But from then on, I became a Carpenters fanatic.
I first visited this board around the same time I became a Carpenters fan and have come here every once in a while to read all the Carpenters topics and posts. From reading posts and hearing everyone, I must say that you people here at Lead Sister are the most down to earth Carpenters fans anyone can ask for. There never seems to be any flames or anything like that; in the forums I mean. I'm looking forward to hearing what people have to say about the Carpenters as always, and I have some questions or topics I've always wanted to ask too. Take care.

Welcome to the forum, David! I'm also a fan of the sixties music and culture even though I wasn't even born yet.

And yet somehow I could feel your future presence just the same Linda.
Hi David, I'm Dave (or David as well) from SC. Sooner or later someone inevitably gets entranced with Karen's mesmerizing voice and the Carpenters' outstanding music.
