New Here - Haunted By Karen

Hi guys,
So I am new to this board and relatively new to The Carpenters. I have been lurking around reading posts and have been enjoying the fun people and the interesting stuff I am learning.
I started getting into the Carpenters maybe 10 months ago. I am a singer/musical theater performer person and I love music.
Now I have always had a few singers that I am crazy about (namely Tori Amos- I have seen her in concernt about 10 times and love her so much!), and when I started listening to The Carpenters I thought it would be a similar thing.
But lately... I definately have a major case of NOKS, which is great MOST of the time, but sometimes it gets hard.
I have heard people say this before, but even though I didn't know Karen (I was actually 6 when she passed away) I feel such a strong connection to her. Maybe because I also suffered from eating disorder and depression, I don't know. But sometimes I get so sad thinking about her. The tragedy of her death upsets me greatly, and I feel that her memory is with me every day.
I really would like to get out to California (I've never been) to visit the grave site. I think it would help for some reason, a closure of sorts? I don't know.
My friends think I am insane... and I probably am a little...but I know some of you can relate.
This will be my first "February 4th" as a fan, and I'll be turning 32 in March the same as Karen when she died.
Anyway, I don't want to be TOO morbid, because the majority of the time The Carpenters and their music give me great joy.
Love from New Jersey,
Maeby

Thanks for the warm welcome guys... actually my birthday is March 22, a bit after Karen's... but I will be turning 32!
What I meant by its my first Feb 4th is- its going to be my first time as a fan on the day of her passing, and I am sure I will be quite upset that day

Welcome Maeby!
Karen has a way of getting past all our normal defenses. She can touch your soul with her beautiful voice.
I'm glad you're not lurking anymore. I hope to 'hear' more of your ideas and thoughts.

Hi and welcome to the land of NOKS!!! Yeah...we all go thru different stages dealing with Karen's death, whether we're old fans or new ones doesn't seem to matter. If you hang around here...you'll come to know Karen better and also connect with others who understand exactly how you feel. So, hang around and read and post. We're not a bad bunch.(mostly
