I pulled out a "People" magazine that I had from 1985 and had an article in it about Karen. Steve Levenkron is quoted talking about Ipacac saying, "None of us had taken the trouble to investigate this drug because who would abuse a drug that produces horrible pains, nausea and vomiting?" What kind of doctor was he that he professed to understand the mind of anorecis and didn't understand why they might take this drug?? He also reconstructed Karen's final days as this: "She overcame her addiction to laxitives, but must have begun swallowing several teaspoons of ipacac every night after dinner and eventually increased her intake to a bottle or two. I assume Karen thought this was a harmless thing to do, to eat regularly yet maintain her weight at 108."
He was supposed to be an "expert" on anorexia.....I find it very disturbing that he had no concept on why anorexics would even take Ipacac.

I guess for the time it was in, he was an expert ( if you call it that ) it seems like a first grader would know more about anorexia now then that doctor did then

Not a lot of doctors would know or understand at that time that an anorexic or bulimic would misuse Ipecac. As with any disease, it takes time to fully understand it, all the aspects surrounding it. Anorexia at that time was so unknown at that time. Even for medical doctors. And I am sure Levenkron knew that Anorexics took Ipecac. And why they took it. It was probably something he didn't ask Karen, not thinking she would misuse it. Now we have 20/20 hindsight.

I have a video of the guy exploiting himself on television in 1992. He made a whole bunch of raunchy claims about Karen's death. The guy is a real idiot!

I once had a therapist who "wrote a book" as when I was seeing her, she always threw that around. "Well....if you've read my book, you'll see.....blah,blah,blah." She was so easy to fool, because she really didn't know much other than some basic psychology. But she certainly wasn't 'learning" anything from her patients. Steve Levenkron reminds me of that therapist.

I went to a psychologist that doctored Jeffrey Dahmer. Every time we'd have to wait six-eight hours in the waiting room until we got to see the doctor.
One lady said she was going there for 10 years. Me and mom gradually gave her the
