Does anyone else absolutely love this song? The melody is so great!

I like this song alot myself. It's one of my favorite Carpenters songs. If I remember correctly, Karen once said in an interview that she really liked this song, but was disappointed that as a single release it didn't fare too well.

Sorry Marty - to me, Goofus is right up there with Drucilla Penny!

Always felt that "Goofus" made an interesting album cut, but never should have been released as a single. Turned out to be a flop commercially which shows that Richard's instincts and decision making was clouded during this period. In fairness to Richard, however, I don't think it really mattered what song they released during 1977-78. Radio stations were removing the Carpenters from their playlists and turning to disco and other musical formats.

I love Druscilla Penny! If I have a second daughter she's going to be named Druscilla Penny.

My first would be named Karen Anne, of course.
