The Carpenters Official Fan Club

I read this as stated exactly.
"While the fan club has ceased operations, there is still a limited amount of memorabilia still being sold from the old address. Write to:
Carpenters
P.O. Box 1084
Downey, California 90240
USA"
Does anyone have any verification if this was true and still is?
Thank you,
Marty

Hey folks, in 1990, when I was 9, I wrote a letter to the Carpenters fan club, in my best, neatest childlike writing, asking for any information, autographs etc. I was so excited to get a reply in an official Carpenters envelope (i.e. an envelope with the Carpenters' logo and fan club address printed in the top right hand corner), but it was actually my original letter with 6 lines of writing added at the bottom by none other than Evelyn Wallace (at that stage, i'd never heard of her and was quite peeved!). In it she said that very little memorabilia was left but that I could send $10 for an official Carpenters booklet featuring photos.
In retrospect, I think this was quite a harsh reply for an obsessive, 9 year old English fan who didn't even have 10 cents, never mind $10 - nothing but a few lines at the bottom of the original page I had sent. But now I also see that I have something very precious from someone so close to Karen and Richard. Not so bad after all!
But, to come back to the original point, I doubt there's much left now if Evelyn told me there barely anything 17 years ago. But it's worth a try I suppose.

When i wrote in the early 1990's and onwards for many years, there were still some posters, the 1973 Concert Program, some 8x 10's, Made In America sun visors, DECADE book and a few other things. Even if you sent some money, they would send you something back. I remember I used to live for getting a letter from EV. Once I ordered some stuff and they didn't have an item, so I got a money order for about 10 dollars back, signed by Agnes Carpenter. I couldn't believe that!! ANd then to think I cashed the checque. I wish I had saved it just because. But $10 then was a lot of money than it is now. And Ev would patiently answer any questions I had on them. She must have answered several hundred questions...

PS. Sometimes I would get a freebie wallet pic of the Carpenters or a postcard sized photo of them...that she would give me. She was an awesome person that Ev.
