Ticket To Ride The Album

Does anyone else think that almost this whole album sounds like it was performed in a Church or something, most of this album just sounds a lot like church music to me, maybe that is the sound that they were going for on that album, or maybe I am crazy lol

I think it's a beautiful choral album. I like that effect. It's something that not alot of people know the Carpenters could do!

Haha, yeah, the ending song "Benediction" reminds me of a beautiful Christmas song that I heard when I was little. haha

I think the OFfering album gives off that image. If I was around in 1969 and saw the album, I would have passed it off as too religious-looking to want to listen to it. I mean, Karen looks like a nun, holding a flower and Richard looks like a church attendee in his outfit. Then when you listen to the album the first song you hear is Invocation (prayer) and sounds kinda churchy. Then closes with Benediction... another prayer title.

"Offering - Ticket to Ride" was a good album. However, I think Richard went a little overboard with the "over-dubbing" effect, that you notice on many of the songs. Too much over-dubbing for me, but still a good album overall.

I love the choral sound, especially given the fact that it was so unusual. Not just in 1969, but even now. This is a unique album.
