Wow, this one is a HARD one, well, atleast it is for me. I love them all, but I'd have to say "Offering". I love that album. The harmonies are so beautiful. I think Richard sounds better on this album than the others. You can hear Karen's beautiful voice still in it's first stages. I love it!

Outside of their Christmas albums, if I had to pick a favorite album of their original releases, I'd pick the "Tan Album", 1971-Carpenters album. But all of their other original release albums are a close 2nd place.

For me, it's Ticket To Ride (Offering) as well. I could go on and on!
For one thing, it really is a benchmark for the Carpenters as it was their first commercial release. You can really get a sense of where they started and where they were expecting to go with their music. Karen also plays the bass guitar on one of the tracks, which is exciting. Richard delivers some great vocals, and Karen did all the drumming (if I'm not mistaken). It's fresh, innovative, and creative.

In "Someday", you can sense their legendary future. What a beautiful song!
