When I was still entering the "Carpenters era" in my life, about five years ago, I believe, I met on an online chat room a guy who told me that when he saw a picture of Karen Carpenter he knew right at that moment that she was his "soul mate" and that was why he never got married. He had a big picture of her at the wall in front of his bed and truly believed they would be together "again" in future lifetimes.

Isn't it quite bizarre? I don't know why I remembered this guy right now. I hope he is better now.

Well, that is kind of weird, but I can't really blame him. Karen is a irreplaceable woman!

Freaky, isn't it? I don't remember what I told him, if I told him anything about it. Today I would just say to him "get a life". This is not just being obsessed with an artist you love and who brings joy and all sorts of good feelings to your life, this is being a psycho.

Poor Karen... She had to deal with flakes like that while she was alive, too. I believe Richard called them "the weirds" and "the strangies."

Yeah, I think that person is taking it a bit overboard! A bit depressing aswell. I don't think if Karen were even alive would she appreciate a man like that. haha

I love Karen, but not in the weird, crazy type of way. She must be looking down at him and saying "Oh boy!".

In the Jerry Dunphy interview (1972) Karen comments on how fans had even sent her engagement rings.

Haha, I saw that. I wonder what those people are up to now? haha

i don't think of us any leadsisterettes have any room to talk though, we might not be physcho but we are pretty obsessed. I think we should just keep our mouths shut because alot of people prolly think we're crazy, i mean only listeing to Carpenter music, comparing everything to something having to do with the Carpenters. I mean c'mon yall, he's prolly just using that as a cover up for a bigger issue.

Yeah, you're right. All I listen to is the Carpenters. I only feel good when doing so. I'm a Carpenters' addict! haha

But look, this forum is dedicated to them, right, so we enter here TO talk about them and their music, so of course they are the main subject of our posts here... and even so, there are some others sessions of this very forum in which we can speak of many things other than the Carpenters and people DO it. I believe we are not different of any good fans of any other good artist, from present or past... but how many of these fans are sure that their idols are their soul mates designed by GOD to be together with them through who knows how many encarnations for all eternity and avoid gettind married in THIS life because of it??
