B.l. Mitchell

songs's Photo songs 16 Aug 2007

Does anyone else here remember B.L. Mitchell? Back in the 70's, Richard produced a single for him and it was distributed through the Fan Club. I had that 45 RPM once upon a time. He was a very good singer and I wonder what became of him. headphones.gif

I've always wanted to hear what his record sounded like... B.L. Mitchell also sang in a Raisin Bran commercial back in the early Seventies...

Here's a little more info:

Hey, thanks for that link. The person who wrote that was correct - it would have been a perfect song for Karen to sing. He had a style very compatible with the Carpenters. I can hear the song in my head. headphones.gif

Sorry for the bump, but does anyone know where I can find a copy of this song? Only a snippet showed up on YouTube the other day.

Is this real or a mock up altered label? I never heard of this before, Karen and Richard produced someone else and was going to produce an album too? Richard produced other artists but that was not until Karen passed away.

This is a very fine song. Very Carpenters sound, and very fine lyrics.

There’s no rule you’ve made that binds you to me
I know my way is free.
There’s been no vow,
Yet here beside you now
Is where I want to be

Not for fear that only here would I find
Love set to shine on me.
There’s surely more,
Yet where the light is yours
Is where I want to be

Knowing I’m where I want to be is how I live,
And these days are always new.
Truly this is the finest love I have to give.
I ask the same of you

And I’ve seen doors to new worlds open before.
There’s many more to see,
But yours alone,
Of all the worlds I’ve known,
Is where I want to be.

Is where I want to be.
Is where I want to be.

I think there is a Manilow version added as an internet bonus on Itunes from one of his albums.
