I Still Feel Her Loss

According to Richard Carpenter, Karen was a chubby girl throughout her early years. At age 17 she got her weight under control through willpower; probably inspired by a strong desire to succeed in showbiz. Conventional wisdom says that inside every fat girl is a skinny girl dying to get out; in Karen's case the opposite may be true. From early adulthood she seemed obsessed with the determination to never let the fat girl within her return to dominance. Unfortunately for her family, friends and the millions of fans who loved her...the agony of her internal struggle destroyed a sublime and beautiful soul.
