How I Discovered The Carpenters

The Carpenters music was something that I had sota liked forever, but didn't know it, I loved the music but I didn't know who they were exept for a Holiday Tradition, and still are,my mom played both the Christmas albums every winter all winter long, then when I was about 13 I found The Singles 1969-1973 record in our basment, I listened to that more and more frequently for about 2 years untill I never stopped playing it, finally a few years later I went out and bought every album that I could find, and I still hardly ever don't have one of their albums playing, it never gets old, HER VOICE IS PURE MAGIC. I don't know how anyone could just store those awesome albums in a damp basment hiding from the sunlight for so many years like my parents did. I think that my favorite song of theirs is Sailing On The Tide, or the hauntingly beautiful A Song For You, that song is interresting where it says " I love you in a place where there's no space for time.........when my life is over, remember when we were together, we were alone and I was singing this song for you" kinda freaky if you think about it, or how about One Love " I want to live again, breathe again in the shelter of this brightly woven love song" those two songs send chills up my spine, then again most of their music does because it is so beautiful, I am deffinetly addicted to their music, and I have a murel of Karen Carpenter on my wall, takes up the whole wall, I am deffinetly addicted. anyway how I started listening to the Carpenter's music, it is basically born into you, and over time it just gets to where thats the only music that you ever want to here, no one can compare, no one else has ever, nor will have such a sweet, beautiful, innocent sounding voice

Hi Aaron

I'm mafer, 16, from Ecuador. Well I also love "A song for you", but one of my favorites is "Goodbye to love" the end of the song is incredible.
I heard the carpenters when I was twelve 'cause my father bought the cd Singles 1969-1981, at first I hated them, I couldn't stand hearing their music, and, two years later when I was 14 I discovered I loved them, so asked dad to look for info about karen and richard, then through him once again discovered lead sister and months later a young member who didn't speak english log into the forum. I'm with you Karen's voice is incredible, the best voice I've heard ever, I'm glad that my father had introduce me their music, very gald and proud of it.

Hello, your story is similar to how I doscovered them, exept I was 15, and it was The Singles 1969-1973 that I first heard, Goodbye To Love was one of the very first songs that stuck out to me, the guitar solo lol I didn't know that they had electric guitar in the 70's I was amazed, by the time that I had heard that, I went out that night and bought a CD that was mine, instead of my parents records. The thing I love about the Carpenter's is that it never gets old, each time is like the first time, and WOW have you heard Live In Japan it's awesome

No, I haven't yet and yes every time I hear them is like the first time. They helped me to sleep when I was 12 and they still help me to sleep. By the way how old are you? 20,30, 25, 40.
