Agnes died on October 1, 1996 in Downey, California (according to IMDb, it was due to complications following triple-bypass heart surgery)
Harold died on October 15, 1988 also in Downey but there's no further information regarding what he died of. Maybe someone else could shed some light on his cause of death...

I would be inclined to think old age, but I cannot back that up.

It was not mentioned what he died of in fan club newsletter nor Coleman book. Richard didn't talk about it when he talked about his parents in Japan in the middle of '90s. Harold didn't suffer from a fight against illness for a long time.
I think Annie guessed heart problems when we talked about this before, though.
Harold's signature which is familiar with old fan club members (Harold was the president and his signature was written at members card.) is at his resting place like Karen's.

I read the local newspaper article about Agnes' funeral on the web before and felt strange. It was written that she died on Oct. 1 and funeral services were held on Nov. 13. I asked about this before. I think Peter answered, so you may find somewhere in this forum.
From the article;
....Funeral services for Agnes Reuwer Carpenter, mother of national
recording stars Karen and Richard Carpenter, were held Wednesday, Nov. 13,
at the Church of Our Father in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress.
A strong maternal figure and homemaker who also worked outside the home
twice in her life, she lived in Downey and died Oct. 1 after complications
following triple-bypass heart surgery....

Let's say he died peacefully in his sleep - the way I wanna go

The way I wanna go after seeing my kids' growing up and having their own lives.
Richard said something like this;
He(Harold) was longevity. He was able to see children succeeding and I think he had a good life.

Not yelling and screaming like all of the passengers on the bus he was driving at the time.

It's a little tasteless, but I laughed out loud when I read that just now!

I though he had an actual medical condition, I think it is in that book by Ray Coleman, wasn't it?
