Have you been to Tony's website lately?
The following is from Tony's news page.
Richard discussed his upcoming new Album during the CPAC event. Richard is
planning a 14/15 track Christmas CD ? with at least 95% original material.
There should be one cover of a Christmas Classic (Possibly Richard's
Instrumental version of Auld Lang Syne or its The Most Wonderful Time of the
Year?).
Guest Vocalists include Petula Clark. Roberta Flack Glen Campbell and
several others.
Together At Christmas Again
All I Want is You - two versions completed.
Version 1 with Adult Lyrics / version 2 with Child Lyrics.
Things Change (Jazz / Blues infusions)
Christmas Turned Blue
December Morn
Christmas in America
Merry Christmas Darling (Instrumental version)
http://www.carpentersconnection.com/
Peter, are you Peter on Tony's site?
"Together At Christmas Again" and "December Morn" were written by Richard and Pamela Phillips Oland. "Christmas Turned Blue" were written by Richard and John Bettis. Richard sang "Together At Christmas Again" on TV Special in Japan last year. It was on air this year again. Seiko Matsuda sang "December Morn" and "Christmas Turned Blue" on her CD.
I found that '8 Songs w/Richard Carpenter for his Xmas album' on PAMELA PHILLIPS OLAND's website.
When can we hear Christmas CD? next year?

Glad you found UK Carpenters Connections Site -Set Up By Tony and Ray in UK -We Go Back Too Many Years......
Yes I Wrote Carpenters News Update -Details on Richard's Solo Album in Progress Were from Conversations with Richard and Others at CPAC Event (March 2003).
Latest Update is That Richard has Postponed Christmas Album Again Due to Still Seeking More Lead Vocalists for Other Tracks-Unlikely Richard will Contribute Any New Lead Vocals Himself ......
Hopefully Richard will Complete Soon for Eventual 2004 Release .....
Clearly Richard will be busy With Japanese Projects and Jo O 'Meara Album into spring 2004
Good to See Richard working on Several New Projects

I found audio clips of Richard's Christmas songs.
But they are sung by Japanese singer Seiko Matsuda.
"December Morn" (Richard Carpenter, Pamela Phillips Oland)
"Christmas Turned Blue" (Richard Carpenter, John Bettis)
If you are interested in them,
here is the link to audio sample.
http://www.universal-music.co.jp/kittymme/...umck4003_l.html
If you see 'RealAudio' or purple characters, please click on them.
Richard sang the following song on Japanese TV last year.
They say that Richard sang at Top Of The World Fundraiser.
"Together At Christmas Again"
Traces of summer have long departed
Ribbons of autumn at an end
My winter's reverie returns to you and me
Together at Chrsitmas again......
( Richard Carpneter, Pamela Phillips Oland )

Unlikely After Problems with Universal Over As Time Goes By (2001) Album that
Richard Would Release Another Album of Previously Unissued Material
Perhaps Richard Could Release Definitive 2CD Singles / Classics Set ( Approx 40-45 Tracks ) with Bonus CD of Rarities and Six Unreleased Tracks ? -This Would Appeal Both to Carpenters New Fans / General Audience and Long Term Fans / Collectors ?
Any Particular Unissued Tracks -You Want Released in 2004 ?

Here is an interview with Karen that Pamela has on this site:
KAREN: The "Ave Maria".. we were going back and forth between the
Bach-Gounod version, and the Schubert, and we had them both cut.. when it
came down to the last choice, we didn't have any more time to cut the other
one, Richard felt he wanted to go with this one, which is the Bach-Gounod,
because it was less known and we felt that even though they are both so
gorgeous, that this is just a touch classier, and again, Richard's always
leaned to the side of doing things that aren't run into the ground. Peter
did an absolutely unbelievable job on the chart, and I enjoyed singing it
more than ever, because I'd never.. it was quite an undertaking….

Talking about tracks which are not Christmas songs, I'd like to listen to
"Somethings Missing" and "Thank You For The Music" at official release.

Schubert's Ave Maria is Good Choice and as Rumoured on Separate Topic , Richard May Issue Either Play a Simple Melody (1978 Outtake) or Adeste Fideles From Christmas Portrait TV Special -Both Would Be Great Releases
Certainly Hope Richard Will Issue Some More Rarities or Tracks Mastered For As Time Goes By Project in 2004 For All the Fans

Thank you, Peter!
I read your topic "Play A Simple Melody".
Is "Adeste Fideles" not a song "O Come, All Ye Faithful" from medley"Overture"?
Not a medley, one song?
May "Play a Simple Melody" or "Adeste Fideles" be released as a bonas track
for Richard's solo Christmas Album? I'd like to listen to both of them and
Shubert's "Ave Maria".
I am avaricious too much.

hello again Carpenters Fans..After reading what I wrote yesterday Id like to apoligize for the harsh words i put aganist Richard. Richard will always be a super talented muscian and In that right he shares his beautiful music to all the world. For a man thats lost his sister 20 years ago, he sure puts a lot of love and devotion in keeping The Carpenters memory alive, Both Karen;s memory and His then, Now and into the future. I am quite grateful, espicially loving christmas music, that we get to hear something very different from Richard. Though I do wish hed share his vocals with us, It is refreshing to hear something new. And yes a posthumous album with Karens vocals would be most welcome. But i thank Both Richard and Karen for the beautful, unmatachable and timeless music that will live on forever.
Michael
P.S. Im sure we will hear news about Richard and the Carpenters plans sometime in the following 3-6 months! keeping my fingers crossed
