So Much More Respect For The Carpenters

I bought Close To You the album this summer but I only listened to Close To You, We've Only..., Help, and Love is Surrender(cause I heard it in the movie). But two maybe three weeks ago I bought the Singles album and I heard I Believe You, and my resepct and love has just grown by like 10 times for them. I knew God gave them talent and took His sweet precious time making the Carpenters but my gosh! This is insane! I've never heard anything that beautiful before in my life. There are beautiful songs out there, but that song....oh my gosh, it's gorgeous! Yesterday Once More...another great song.
After listening to those two songs on the album, I picked up Close To You, and I can't stop listening to the album, Crescent Noon, Maybe It's You, Baby It's You....priceless. I have the biggest respect and biggest appreciation for Richard Carpenter, he is officially a genius in my book now. The harmonies, the music, the piano, I really don't have time to go there with talking about Karen's voice because it's that good. I love I Kept On Loving You, Richard has the cutest voice to me, and it's so 70s! I love Mr. Guder the piano before they start harmonizing is amazing. I can't wait to get more albums from them. But I just thought I would post talking about the greatness of the Carpenters. If I ever meet Richard I will call him "The Genius" and praise his work and his sister. He is amazing and Karen....God didn't give her a beautiful voice, He put an Angel inside of her that's why she sings the way she does. Just amazing.

Just beware that as you buy more albums, you will become more addicted to the beautiful melodies of each song with Karen's vocals.
Sometimes I can just sit back and listen to the blending of music and vocals and puts me into a sort of heavenly feeling or place cause of the sounds.
There are even more amazing songs on some of the other albums!

Oh, "Close To You" was also my first album as well.

Thanks for the warning. lol. I was pissin' mad yesterday, but Carpenters made it all go away. I'm going to name my daughter Karen, not just because she's my favorite singer, but because I've always loved that name. And when they're newborns, to get them to calm down and go to sleep, they'll fall asleep to the Carpenters.

I am so guilty of the Carpenters addiction.
Sometimes when I hear a certain note or sound, I get goosebumps.
I just can't get enough of the perfection in her voice and his arranging.

Oh it's okay to be addicted, it's a good addiction. They're not bad for you health, they don't make you a crazy paranoid person, they make the world just a little bit better.

It sure is a good addiction. Actually, it's the best addiction to have. I wouldnt seek therapy or anything and I will take this addiction with me to my grave.

I'm with you and hear you all the way Candace.
I remember way back when the "Close to You" album came out but I've only heard it in its entirety two years ago. I was totally amazed and blown away by it.
I've also charcterrized Richard as an arranging and composing genius and their music a Sonic Rainbow
For all alround musical talent with her unique, ionespheric voice and awesomely skilled drumming and percussion, None were better than Karen Carpenter, bar none.

checks pulse as NOKS factor kicks in over 7.5 again.

Like I said Richard is a genius. And he was so young when the Carpenter released their second album, he had that much genius in him at such a young age. It's a gift.
"Another Song" WOW!!! It's so rare and probably hasn't been done since, when I first heard it I thought it was just a demo, but then I realized it was how the song was supposed to be, and then after Karen sings "...and soon the day would come" and the way Richard plays the piano at the part, and then he just bangs on the piano, and it's so dramatic with the drums. And before they end their singing parts, the harmonies!!!! They sound like a choir of Angels, it's awesome! And then the music from there on out. Brilliant. I love the little drum and piano solo they have and then the oboe joins in. And Karen's drumming.....Classic. I really did think that "Another Song" was named that because the song sounds like different songs that's why I thought it was named "Another Song" but then I listened to the lyrics and heard what they were singing about, but if this is just their second album and it sounds like that, I can't imagine what the rest of their albums sound like. Just to think as they got older their music just reach the top of genius, I can't wait to buy more Carpenters albums.

Oh yeah', I felt the same way and continued to buy and greatly enjoy all kinds of Carpenters CDs, DVDs VCR tapes, records and awesome audio-video downloads from this site.
Also, NOKS is an infamous acronym here which stands for Nuts Over Karen Syndrome.
