Consider Readers Digest 3-dis Set

For those of you who do not have the Carpenters READERS DIGEST 3-disc set--please consider obtaining them.
(Alex was right when he mentioned that the discs are louder and clearer than others
.) I really appreciate having this set--as the quality is REMARKABLE. While the discs contain but a jumbling of old familiar Carpenters, I cannot SAY ENOUGH about the clarity. But most of all: I have noted on a few songs with different mixes....and am hearing things....instruments....nuances....additions that I have NEVER heard on any of my other versions. (I have been just randomly listening to selected songs....so, I still haven't heard ALL of them.) But, for example.....I CAN"T SMILE WITHOUT YOU has a different beginning than on "Kind Of A Hush"....also, Karen sings another line or so ("I can't sleep....)....I have noted that MAYBE IT"S YOU sounds different--much better. The BACHARACH/DAVID medley NEVER sounded any better!
I mean....now when I want to hear individual songs--this is the set I will play.
I have noticed in most EVERY song I have listened to thus far....hearing additional instruments (I don't know for sure if they are just add-ons...or just instrumentation that was always there that I missed on my other versions.
)
And I tell you....some of my older discs miss SO MUCH of what I am hearing now. (Fox example, my CARPENTERS disc [with RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS] has a low hiss that I always have to turn the treble down....plus, on the disc, itself, it has CARPENTERS mispelled: C-A-R-E-P-E-N-T-E-R-S....and although I bought that one years ago at MUSICLAND (or someplace like it)--I have often wondered if THAT ONE was a bootleg, or something.) Anyway...I didn't mean to digress....
But the point I want to emphasis (and I, myself have close to 25 Carpenters discs: so this is saying a lot): The READERS DIGEST CARPENTERS set is worth consideration for your collection. You won't be dissappointed (though I do wonder why they "throw in" what Christmas songs they do--though MERRY CHRISTMAS DARLING never sounded better.
I guess the other discs I have to compare to the quality is that of the CHRISTMAS PORTRAIT/OLD-FASHIONED CHRISTMAS...I always thought those were louder and clearer.....but, hey, the READERS DIGEST set surpasses that.
Funny, I probably wouldn't have considered buying them (and
THANKS to a VERY SPECIAL Carpenters fan--I didn't!).
...for, actually, growing up just the words READERS DIGEST had kind of a bad connotation for me: equated it with "old people"....those ratty books lying around the doctors' office when you went....plus a WRITER'S HORROR: as no author LIKES to see his book CONDENSED....YIKES!....Well, there is nothing "CONDENSED" about this Carpenters set. If anything, it is filled with additional sounds....words....instruments....nuances--not to be found on other supposed "full versions".
I'd be interested in anyone else's thoughts who has heard these versions, also. Alex? Play on.....

Yes, indeed.
This is a superior set to tons of Carpenters material! (I am starting to add boxed sets to my site in the future)
This is a great collection! I recieved it for my 14th Birthday.
When I first tried to obtain the collection it was out of print! But fortunatly, a month after I asked, they sent it to us!
The sound is so crystal-clear. It is unique!
It is a 3-CD Set.
The discs are themed
Example:
Disc 1: Greatest Hits Disc 2: Yesterday Once More - Looking Back Disc 3: Love songs and Christmas classics.
What I personally love about the set is how the "Now & Then" songs don't all flow together. It sounds different.
The live track - it's to die for! The medley is simply sensational!

Disc 1 is titled "CLOSE TO YOU/THEIR GREATEST HITS"
The songs are:
1-We've only just Begun.
2-Superstar.
3-Rainy Days and Mondays.
4-Goodbye to love.
5-(They long to be) Close to you.
6-All you get from love is a love song.
7-For all we know.
8-I won't last a day without you.

10-Calling Occupants of interplanetary Craft.
11-Top of the world.
12-(Want you) Back in my life again.
13-Ticket to Ride.
14-Sing.
15-Can't smile Without you.
16-Bless the Beast and the Children.
17-It's going to take some time.
18-Sweet, Sweet Smile.
19-Touch me when we're dancing.
20-I need to be in love.
21- Solitaire.

he songs are:

Thanks guys! I'll try both!!! The only thing about ebay is the person who sells it, might not even give you the item you bought! But if they don't, it looks like I have to use my plan.
Step1. Kick some butt
Step2. Kick some more butt
Step3. Get my item and run for it!
