This week's People magazine has an article about Nichole Ritchie being the next Karen Carpenter(meaning the anorexia).
I didn't have time to read it, but opened it up and saw a picture of Karen next to Nichole's.
If anyone reads this, let us know what it has to say. Of course, here we go again remembering Karen for the disease.

Uhhhh. Except for one thing. Karen was America' sweetheart...and Nichole is trashy and skanky...and probably smelly! Oh, and Karen actually had talent!
Sorry, but Nichole is an attention whore...like that thing we call "Paris".

I find the most annoying thing about that is how the media loves to forget that anorexia is a psychological disease - they not only just think there's only one symptom (weight loss), but they also think that whoever looks super thin must therefore have the illness.
Hello, she's said a million times she's not anorexic, so shut up already! They're only doing it for the sensationalistic aspect of it. That is, the money. Ugh.

Yeah, my husband and I were watching tv and ET or whatever comes on talking about a star with anorexia and he said it's hard to take it seriously. Everytime a starlet loses weight it's anorexia. Drives me nuts for sure. The media makes it look like an in thing or something that is all based on losing a few pounds. How is anyone going to convince insurance companies to take it seriously with the media making ED's a side show??

I wish they would do that with comparison drumming talent or something. "The next Karen Carpenter" as in being a great voice or something, too.

Not to be crude or anything, but keep dreaming. I mean, the media wouldn't publish something about her drumming talents because I doubt it would sell the same amount the anorexia stories would.

What does Nicole Richie do?
I wouldn't completely rule out her anorexia though. If she has it, she probably doesn't want to be all, "OMG yes, I so have anorexia!" Idk.

I agree.
a ) It really isn't the media/public's business
b ) Assuming she does have an eating disorder, she may very well still be in the denial stage.

Plus, not many people know Karen for her drumming talent and that's a depressing reality. The public remember her because she died of anorexia nervosa. There are fans like us who remember her for her music, but it seems more remember her because of her death/disease that took her too soon. I doubt we'll ever see stories like that in the media and even if we do, the anorexia ones are way more popular.
I agree Boo. It'll never happen, but I'm like Cheryl...sure would be cool to see it someday. Nothing whatsoever mentioned about her battle with anorexia and just her talent talked about...that would be something. It's not bad to talk about someone's struggle with an ED, but damn, it's not what made that person!!! There are so many more facets to people, but I guess people get off on making someone the poster child for something. Our society is nutso sometimes!!!

Yeah IF Nicholle does have anorexia...it's certainly not the media's place to bring it to the forefront.....unless....it makes her think twice, which I highly doubt.
