Hi all,
A while ago I came across an old thread which of course I can't find now (though I bet Sakura, with her encylopaedic memory, could
!). It was about things that LS members would like to see Karen's image/Carpenters pictures/ logo on, like calendars and so on...
Having just seen on ebay a Carpenters desk tidy that someone has made, it occurred to me that with the websites like 'photobox' here in the UK and the US equivalents, we ought to be able to make a whole load of both Karen and Carpenters stuff. Obviously we couldn't sell it, but we could surely trade things amongst ourselves, couldn't we? I'm sure we should be able to do better than the sellers on ebay - some of the stuff there really isn't very nice...
I would love a Karen calendar, for a start!
Anyone got any ideas?

I remember a while ago that some calendar pictures were posted in the forum by someone who'd come across a calendar on ebay. They were very high resolution, I looked to see if I had any and found these:

Beautiful pics, Stephen!
I would love to see the first one in color to see the design on Karen's shirt - in black and white it looks as if someone has thrown a cup of coffee over her !

I think this would be a fab photo for a calander I just love it gives the feeling of what a nightime concert would be like with Karen.

I have new Carpenters Single box fryer that was provided on 19th.
Does anyone want to exchange it with Olivia Newon-John's Supplement? They don't sell it to Japanese.

One was "Fan Club Stuff" that Nash started, probably. Others were about desk organizer(?) or newsletters. I talked about pencils, pen and playing cards in a few topics.
There were some picture topics, such as

Hi Everyone!
I was wondering if Richard (through a third party or maybe even directly) currently runs any extensive merchandising of Carpenters material. Outside of the reissuing of past albums, the creation of new compilations and release of a couple of dvds, has Richard offered fans a line of tee shirts or any of the other usual collectibles such as coffee mugs, jackets, caps etc?
It seems to me that with the success of things like TV Land, Nick at Nite, 'retro' conventions and so many other things associated with nostalgia, the 60's, 70's etc. that he would do it. But, I cannot seem to locate many 'official' things at all.
I seriously hope that with the big anniversary of Karen's passing approaching, Richard would provide fans with a way to collect offical merchandise and even possibly support a great charity or cause that Richard supports.
I also dearly hope that Richard would contemplate issuing a compilation single for radio and/or issuing a single of one of their biggest hits to mark Karen's passing and in effect, the close of Carpenters as an act.
I recall not too long ago Elvis was heard on the radio with remixes of songs he sang thirty five years earlier and not too long after his passing, there was a hit on the radio called the Elvis Medly (which I still have on casette..lol). Richard could do something similar. It is obvious thier work influenced so many singers today and still captures new fans worldwide.
