Richard's Thoughts On Karen

On 'Something In Your Eyes':
'That to me is one of the best records...I ever made. And all I think of is 'my god', you know, if Karen could come down for one day, like in Carousel or whatever, and I could play her all the things we've done posthumously and remixed. And I could say to her 'Karen, listen to this!'
I always feel a mixture of things when I watch him talking in this interview, because on the one hand you can tell he's so proud of everything he's done to preserve Karen's legacy, and yet at the same time, it must be frustrating as well as heartbreaking that it's not possible.
In another interview from the Japanese special, he touches again on this saying:
'On the whole I'm a pretty happy fellow. But it's like a thorn in your side...knowing that I can come up with all of these marvellous new melodies still, and Karen isn't here to sing them'
Another one I remember from 1983 is this:
For Karen to die of heart failure at 32? I have to be a little bitter, I have to be'.
Does anyone have any other interesting or touching ones?
Stephen

How about the one where he says he's so glad they had that last argument and then hugged or whatever? I can't remember the exact quote, but I'm sure you can.
I thought that was sweet.
Or how about the one from one of the newsletters, where they ask him to describe Karen in 3 words, and he says "talented, lovely and..." I can't remember the last word, was it nice?
Or when they asked him if time has healed him at all (I think the interview was in 88), and he says no, not at all, but he has to go on because what choice does he have. I like that quote, because I think it's very...honest. Interviewers always ask people after tragedies how they've managed to go on, but short of suicide it's not like you have a choice so it's a stupid question.

I think it went something like 'Karen always had these marvellous brown big eyes, but there was just no life left in them...And she called this meeting with Werner and me...she was hot as hell at me for even questioning how she looked. And I told her, and I'm glad I did I have to tell you, because we're not a big 'huggy feely kissy' type of family, but I told her that I was concerned about her, that she didn't look well and that I loved her. And I'm damn glad she called that meeting because in 10 days to 2 weeks she was dead.'
Or something like that

Yea, it's not exactly appealing to a broad audience, is it?
