I vote for When Its Gone (It's Just Gone).
I like how the music sounds leading into the song, and the lyrics are sad but perfectly fit how it feels to be ripped emotionally away from someone you love and cannot follow through with.
Karen sings it so perfectly and wistfully, and it makes me think how when she recorded that she was either getting married or married and how that would turn out for her, so it makes it feel even more sad thinking about how SHE would follow the song through and how she would feel. Like she is singing her feelings.
But the music and the melody is beautiful to me and I think its one of the nicest songs on the album.

I chose WHEN YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES because it is such a beautifully sounding song. It's upbeat, perky and the chorus is sublime. A very contemporary sounding song.
I had a hard time choosing though...it was kind of a three way tie for WHEN YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES, WHEN IT'S GONE and WANT YOU BACK IN MY LIFE AGAIN.

I just had to say that whenever I hear "When You've Got What It Takes", I smile cause it sounds exactly what it would sound like if the Carpenters or Karen recorded a track for a Utah-made LDS seminary video or LDS artist CD.
I've seen enough of them and heard enough of contemporary LDS soundtracks that the moment I heard the music of "You've Got What It Takes" AND the lyrics, I started laughing and thinking about the cheesy videos going along with THIS song!

I like Because We Are in Love (The Wedding Song), because I believe it was written at a time where Karen was the happiest and because of this lyric.
“What kind of people did we want to be, no answer ever came to me”. O that voice!!

uhg... I keep forgetting to have the voting things fixed! LOL
I chose "I Believe You". It was a toss up between that one and Those Good Old Dreams. I Believe You has more emotion behind it and grabs me more I guess.

i voted for I BELIEVE YOU
i just love that song...i have for a long time. the first time i heard it, i fell in love with it!!! the lyrics, the music, and how karen delivers it. great song. i've got an interview she did and she's talking about the song and how much she loves it and how it's dear to her.
makes me sad cos i wonder if she ever felt like how she sounds like she feels when i hear it played

I guess I'd choose Want you Back in My Life Again, because it's catchy, and the other ones aren't really favourites for me.

I voted for "Touch Me When We're Dancing". It sounded very contemporary at the time, but it doesn't sound dated now, if that makes any sense.
I love the harmonies and the saxophone solo.

You just don't like this album do you, silly boat
Excellent replies everyone
Although that's the song I voted for, I also love '(Want You) Back In My Life Again' and 'When You've Got What It Takes'. The latter is one of my sister's all time favourite songs, she always asks for it to be included on compilation CDs whenever I do them for her. I always remember how one critic alikened 'Back In My Life Again' to the Doobie Brothers 'What A Fool Believes' because of the cheesy synths at the beginning

Wrong song to be releasing as a single (whether it was on Karen's 32nd birthday or not) and definitely the wrong song to be releasing in 1982.
