Entertainment Tonight=carpenters Video

Chris-An Ordinary Fool's Photo Chris-An Ordinary Fool 17 Sep 2006

Hope this is not a repost.

I have never seen this clip, almost 5 mins. This is the first time I have seen the actual Dr Kron speak about this (sorry Linda I'm talking about the real one LOL) I can't believe what he says and Richard seemed really upset with all of it, the Dr and therapy, saying it didn't work, she kept shedding weight and then here Richard says it, they forced weight on her and that was it. Why did they have to do that so fast to her.

I appears this person recorded this from their TV set, so they quality is bad.

Does anyone have a better copy of this especially without the annoying ad over the video clip.

I saw this on YouTube for the first time a few days ago.
I thought some of members talked about things from this. But I couldn't catch Levenkron's words.

offtopic.gif I was too busy laugh.gif to search for photos and articles about Olivia's appearance on David Foster event(s), Dionne's new album wih duet with Olivia, and Dionne and Bacharach's appearance on Ella Awards.

Chris,
I sent you an email about Olivia about a week ago.

Oh hey, that's awesome, thanks! bowdown.gif

I had no idea Dr. Levenkron had gone on E.T., wow. blink.gif And he was really not much older than Karen when she saw him. hmmm.gif

Very cool, thanks for sharing. bowdown.gif

That was interesting to see Dr. Kron! I also liked the real footage of Karen, but I noticed its a plug for the made for TV movie. rolleyes.gif

Watching a ET clip from 1988 shows me how pet peeved I am at the current ET which doesn't ever have inside stories 5 minutes long anymore and during the entire show, there is constant background music for drama and fast MTV style editing. This report was completely silent during interviews and the hosts were set up to represent a real newscast look. laugh.gif

A few years ago I read that ET was different. So I was not sure it is correct that I would post about Karen's news on ET (a few years ago) to this forum.
When Karen was moved, Richard didn't appear on ET, only audio interview and old video. I have not seen the video, yet.

I'd like DVD "Rock Legend" add Richard's words on this ET!

I love how the media loves to swtich 110 for 120 or vice versa when they talk about Karen's weight. They always say her normal weight was 110, and then they switch it to the actual normal 120 and then back to 110 and then sometimes 130, like it doesn't make a huge difference when you're only 5'4. rolleyes.gif

But yea, that was a cool clip, and I thought it was interesting when Dr. L said she left therapy after a year because she was alone in NYC and that was hard for her. Which makes sense and stuff, but they do have therapists in California, you know? (even though really, the # of therapists in NYC is like, out of control - they're just everywhere laugh.gif ).

That makes sense, Sakura. Maybe they weren't as crazy back then. But I still find it odd that anyone's therapist would agree to speak on television about their patient. hmmm.gif

Wow, really interesting... is very interesting to have the point of view of the Dr. kron, and is very nice to see the point of you of cynthia gibb aswell, though (in my opinion) i dissagree with Rich, I think It had a lot to do with Karen's anorexia the fact that she was famous.... lots of added preassures...

Yeah...you've got to admire Cynthia Gibb. What an amazing, monumental job...to research someone else's life and try to portray it accurately...or as accurately as Hollywood would let her. bowdown.gif

Ah, the eternal nature vs. nurture debate. biggrin.gif I think the research (on anorexia, not on Karen laugh.gif ) points to both, because although life events can precipitate people to develop all sorts of mental illness, there's also the fact that even when exposed to the same things, two people have different reactions, and people who are genetically related are more likely to have the same illness. So I think there has to be a genetic component to it, an element that as Richard put it, is "in" a person. At the same time, even illnesses that are known to be heavily biological, like schizophrenia, are still linked to life events as they tend to trigger the onset of a host of illnesses, especially during puberty. It's the old "biology loads the gun, and the environment pulls the trigger" kind of thing. hmmm.gif Since Karen's environment was at least partly show-biz related, it had to have had some influence, because that was the context of her life. But it's not necessarily the cause of course, because there are many more anorexics that aren't famous than those that are. hmmm.gif

I think show biz was the trigger, but the underlyinig elements were all there. So ya, pick a trigger... but in the end it doesn't really matter what the trigger is, because anorexia is a bomb waiting to explode in anyone who is predisposed. (Ya. Nature and Nurture)

I've noticed...that when we agree, we say pretty much the same thing except I use like, 5 extra paragraphs. hmmm.gif laugh.gif You're like me, but concise, squashed into fewer sentences. hmmm.gif laugh.gif *splat* tongue.gif

Yea okay, off topic. unsure.gif
