He didn't? Why wouldn't he? I don't remember what the Coleman book says, but I would think he would.

I feel the same way, Annie. I mean, if he attended her viewing, why wouldn't he be at the funeral itself?

Plus, they weren't officially divorced yet either. He was still her husband.

I thought so too. If Richard was happy for him to go to the viewing, then why not the funeral? Maybe because he appreciated that Tom had not actually seen Karen since that November dinner over a year before her death...
At the time, was it public knowledge that the marriage was pretty much over? If not, didn't people think it was weird that he wasn't there?
I have never seen any newspaper articles about the funeral (only seen a few of the newspaper articles that announced her death), so don't know how it was reported...

I'm guessing that to find out the true information, we should ask Richard . . but then that would be probably not a good topic to ask him, so we'll leave it like we know nothing . . . .

yeah. . .she had to see W in the morning, as well as buy a new washer-dryer
. I've often wondered what she would have done on that Friday

She had an appointment with Frenda Leffler to get her nails done, I think. And then off to the divorce lawyer to sign the papers and make the divorce legal.

Richard also mentioned in an interview that she wanted to buy a new VHS, her mom (I think) says the washer and dryer.... ONJ was on her way to pick up Karen (cant remember what she said they were going to do) when she heard the news on the radio and pulled over on the freeway and had a friend come pick her up b/c she was too upset to drive.
So, I've heard different stories about her plans for the day. But everyone agrees she had the appt to finalize her divorce that same day.
As far as Burris attending the funeral, I'd have to double check that. I thought that's when he put his ring in her casket. Maybe it was during the wake?

I've heard that before and can't even imagine what it would be like to hear your best friend has died by another friend/relative let alone a radio station while you're on your way to pick that friend up.

I remember the story about Tom putting his ring in her casket.
It IS strange that we never heard if he was at the actual funeral. I, also. assumed he had gone, too.
Maybe he was at the grave ceremony?? No.....the viewing, perhaps?? Was ther anything open the the public???? I couldn't remember anything about any of it, except that it was not in the media much.

My guess is that he put the ring in the casket at the viewing. There was a public viewing and the casket was open. I read on a website a posting from a person who attended the viewing and said Karen looked very old. Also that her family were there in a roped-off area...
Does no one here have copies of any newspaper reports about the funeral?

Actually, it's interesting to know that the funeral itself was open to the public. There were reserved seats for the expected family, friends and celebrities, but the rest was just generally open to the public. Since there were so many people, the service was broadcast outside (and that's how I ended up with a recording of the ceremony). But yeah, there were people all over the place.
