HI
Was karen ever really part of the hollywood scene?.i know she loved her fame but was wary of the materilaistic side of showbuisness.i wonder if she ever attended a lot of showbuisness parties that seems to be required when one becomes famous and how big a star was she according to hollywood standards.

She was actually going to go to Studio 54 while in NYC but something came up... I cant remember what and she ended up not going. Thank goodness.... no telling what would have happened in that place! LOL

I wished she had gone. It would have been neat and imagine the publicity...plus, she would have stood her ground to not do what she wouldn't want to do. But also, Karen was a fun girl who wanted to have fun too.

Hi!
I think I read in the Coleman's book that Karen hadn't liked to go to parties. At least when she was
married, and her husband liked to go out, Karen liked to stay at home. Another thing was her illness.
When somebody don't feel well, he/she haven't got the mood to go to parties.
I know that she had very good sense of humour, but that didn't mean that she would have liked to go to parties.
What do you think?

I imagine she was fun. I heard a mystery writer hated parties too. Karen once had a date who liked parties, and she didn't. One of the many reasons for their breakup.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is studio 54? Why is it good that Karen didn't go there?

Studio 54 was a really famous nightclub in NYC. A lot of celebrities went there. It was known for um...craziness and drugs. Mainly drugs.
It's funny, because my mom lived in NYC during that time, and she went there a few times, and she said she never understood what the hype was about. She thought it was like any other nightclub. Maybe that's because she wasn't on drugs.

I think that makes a lot of sense. I agree.

Although I also read that Karen's boyfriend liked parties, and she didn't, I watched Karen & Tom and Richard at party on Japanese TV program in 1980 and we can see the photos from another premium party which they attended on photo site(s?). (We can see Richard at ABBA musical premium, too.)
So Karen didn't refuse every party.
Karen was not a person who went to party every night.
Talking about Tom, I have thought he liked to go out, but for fishing. And Karen didn't like go fishing. Tom had a boat. She didn't like waiting for her turn at Make Your Own Kind Of Music taping.
