The sixties and seventies were the best time for music in my opinion. All that fabulous music and no money to buy it with....
An LP used to cost half a weeks wages in my day. For example, the Beatles Abbey Road, the first LP I bought, cost £1-19-11 and that came out of that weeks pay packet of £4-16-0...

6th? Not too bad. Unfortunately, it seems that people of my generation would have at least heard of the top 5, but many don't know who the Carpenters are.
I think I would've loved the 60s and 70s, especially the music.

LOL! Sister Sil, and the Sally Army marching band. 'Ta ra boom de ay' (clash of symbols).
Yes, an unprecedented flow of the most wonderful noise, heard by man (and woman)
I buy more of the old stuff today than I do the current: - )

Some current stuff is 'okay"...but, I don't know...there was just something about the 70's music....a real variety and serious artistry involved. Some good and some bad music....but certainly interesting and wonderful time period.

that's the funny thing....most people our age, jazza, probably don't know who the carpenters are.....but play one of their popular songs (close to you, we've only just begun, etc.) and they'll at least know one of their songs.
and about loving the 60's and 70's.....*cough* hippie treehugger *cough*

Maybe. It's hit or miss.

Diverse music; happy, tree-hugging people; woodstock--what's not to love?!
Okay, so there was a lot of drug use [but look at today] and it's kind of the hippies' fault that we have so many STDs. And maybe there was a lot of racism. But there was also love! Love for the trees, love for each other...I missed an amazing twenty years by being born too late!
