First Tv Special.

In the music video intro for the Carpenters First TV Special, we see Karen dressed as an indian playing a drum with her hands and smiling foolishly, very funny. But the scene seems to have been edited out of the final Special, I suppose because there was not time enough to include it, although there's this flash of it in the intro. My question is: did the whole footage of that scene survived and surfaced?

ooh! i've always wondered that, too. i thought maybe she was an extra in the scene with richard and john where they're singing in overalls and they have those knife-hacking things, but didn't end up in the frame.

Interesting, but I don't think so. There's someone behind her dressed as an indian too and a whole indian set, as far as I can see, so it's like that scene was a complete scene by itself.

I have some photos, several of Karen playing the bongo type Indian drum (forgive my ignorance
), and another of Karen and Richard dressed as Indians with John Denver dressed as a pilgrim sitting between them, his hands tied up and an apple in his mouth

These pictures sound great - can you post them, please? Or maybe you want to save them for your new site

That's ok; I understand. Do you mind me asking if this person sells the pics on ebay? I do look on ebay often, but have never seen pictures from that TV special there. Actually I haven't seen any of the TV specials on DVD or video yet either, though I have seen those for sale on ebay - just don't know which sellers there are reliable and have decent quality copies, so haven't ordered any yet....

Hi Carrie,
They used to sell them on eBay, but not anymore. If you want to buy the tv specials from a reliable seller, a man named John Perkins (ebay ID perksplace) is very friendly and reliable. I just received my copy of Music Music Music from him and it's much better quality than my other copy and doesn't have bits chopped out!
So far I haven't found any of the other specials that are in really good quality- most sellers seem to be selling copies all originating from the same source- an old tape transfered to dvd.
Oh yeah I just remembered- another really nice friendly seller is gablesnfables (I think that's how its spelt). He takes Paypal and does a really nice job of the dvd covers and printing on the disks.
Hope this helps

The person who is selling proper copies of this picture is an LS member and I don't think she'd appreciate me posting it here...... .....
We have an LS member who sells pictures? Didn't know that.

. Only downside is he doesn't take Paypal, I had to send an international money order. The seller in Chile I mentioned earlier does sell mostly the same stuff and accepts Paypal, but he takes a long time to ship your items, though you eventually do receive them. But like I said don't buy MMM from him

Thanks for that. I have bought from John Perkins but I can only buy his audio recordings because he can't do region-free DVDs (as I'm in the UK I need region 2 or region-free). The International Money Order thing is a bit annoying as it costs me 8 UK pounds to actually buy the money order, though the quality of his Carpenters stuff is excellent, as you say. I have bought stuff from gablesnfables (that's where I got my Bruce Forsyth DVD) but his Music Music Music DVD was awful - completely unwatchable. I was really frustrated by that. He no longer sells on ebay. I agree though, that the presentation of his stuff was nice.
So is the LS member that does the photos you mentioned going to read this and say who they are?!?! Or might they be worried about being inundated with orders?!

Chris posted this before.

And Pamela cleaned up, Jay or someone posted it to gallery.

Strange, I cannot quote Chris' post nor Pamela's now.

What does it matter anyway? I'd say there are quite a few people in this forum who buy and sell stuff on places like ebay.
