Why Did You Pic Your Avatar?

Well.........exactly what the title says
.........if you have a Carpenters related picture for your avatar, what made you choose that particular picture?
I've done some shuffling round recently and settled on this one. I have the full length picture but decided to include only their faces in the pic cause that was the funny part

<--- This was an absolute highlight of my recent trip to Los Angeles (that, and stopping at the Newville House). My son was pretty amazed to see the Carpenters star, he just stared at it.
I chose it because it was personal.

Good topic Ran!
I've done shuffling too since I joined in March this year, but I keep coming back to this one
. I chose this shot cos I happen to adore Karen's sense of humor and her comical side.
For those who have never seen it, my avatar is a snapshot of Karen from the second Christmas Special, and she's playing an angel in a school Christmas play. It's so funny!!!
It's a real shame more people don't know what a funny lady she was. The general public who just knows the Carpenters for their songs and not anything about them personally, mainly know her by her one-of-a-kind voice and that she died from complications of anorexia, which is really sad cos wow...they're missing so much

Same here Ames! My avatar is one of the funniest pictures I've seen of her that isn't really common floating round the internet. Plus the fact that the photographer actually got Richard to pull a face too, that cracks me up......
ps. I was going to make my avatar a picture I have of Richard wearing nothing but Speedos posing for the camera, but thought I better not........

I was blown away by Karens live drumming (and the pure joy that she expresses) of "Help" from the Budokan concert, and this is a screen capture from that song. And besides, I think this is one of the last pics of her where she still *looked* healthy.

Back in the days of the Newville Avenue mailing list, we organized a campaign to convince the US post office to put Karen on a stamp. Needless to say, we failed, so I created one for us. I posted it on the website I used to have, and encouraged everyone to print it on their envelopes!

) tracked me down a copy. and it's been there ever since. it's still my favorite pic of karen

I chose mine because no one else had it and it shows her sense of humour. It's a quirky shot and I guess I saw a part of me in her expression.

It's coming from the Carpenters Gold DVD menu. I liked it when I first saw it, with the movent and the sparkles.
After a quick lesson, I managed to get it transfered in macromedia flash. So that's way it's still got a lot of movement but with a small file size.
Maybe I have to come up with something new
But it has the move...... so that could be complicated again....
But I'm not gonna use my avatar I use on the motor-forum
:

I saw this one from a fellow forummer there:

Do anybody recognize him ?

I picked mine because I like Karen's look from 1970-72 the best.

I love her sequin-y hat in mine, and it was fun to add the little embellishments to the bottom right corner [representin' MS Paint
]. I just think it's a pretty picture of her, and her hair is all curly

Well, i like some carpenters pics but this was my first avatar when i joined here, then i began to change it but i never liked them. I began to miss my old avatar, so i decided to change it.
I really like how she looks here, i remember that when i was choosing the avatar and i saw it in the gallery i said to myself: This is the one that i want.
