Vh1's 1970s

LeadSister's Photo LeadSister 18 Aug 2003

The C's were on VH1's 1970's show. I recorded the segment and will post it on the site in the next day or two.

I can tell you one thing.... the 1980's was ok for the kids to watch.... but the 70's... I should have known better  LOL

I saw it last night but didn't tape it. It was an okay bit.

And Pam - I agree, the 70s must have been wild! I had no idea that people were doing that deal with the keys in the jar, and whoever's keys you got you went home with for the night! Sheesh!

As a man aged 46 years I literally grew up during the 1970s(I turned 14 on the fourth day of the decade). I can tell you firsthand and up close and personal about some of the wacky stuff popularized during the 70s(remember Pet rocks? Mood rings? Bell-bottomed pants? DISCO!!??) There is one thing I am truly proud of-as ridiculous as fashions wre back then, I am proud to say I never, EVER owned a leisure suit.

Dfb,

Come on - no leisure suit!!! You weren't stylin' then!!! I'm 43 and the 70's were great! I still have my pet rock - thank you very much! I lost my mood ring long long time ago though! The peace sign, smile face...... brings back lots of good memories!

Oh man! I was gonna watch that, but I figured it's the 70's! They hardly talk about The Carpenters. I'm glad that you're going to put it up, Pam! Thanks! :)

My teenage years were in the 70's. I can't even watch "That 70's Show" because of the polyester flashbacks! When I see what teenagers wear now, it's not so different though. Flared pants, hip huggers, platform shoes; they're all back, just in a new style. We wore puka shells with our mood rings. Kids were either jocks or stoners, and marijuana was as common as tobacco. We had posters we bought at the "head shop" that glowed when you used a black light bulb. Really groovy.

Peace out. :D

whsoxfan,
Thanks for the feedback! I have to admit I'm one who has never subscribed to the latest "must do" fashion trends. Remember the mid-80s when "Miami Vice" was the hot TV show and suddenly every man in America was walking around dressed like Crockett and Tubbs? :D. If you saw a photo of me from 25 years ago you would note my wardrobe is much the same today as it was then. I'm very much at home in T-shirts, sweatshirts, jeans and sneakers. The only difference would be that I'm about 100 pounds heavier than I was in '78 :).Every once in a while I catch an episode or two of a 70s sitcom on TV and all I can think is "GOD were 70s fashions horrible or WHAT?

I personally love the 60's and 70's fashion and not much 80's fashion.
The 60's had beautiful hairstyles and a naive way of dressing. I love the Jackie Kennedy style. I remember when I was a kid I had bell bottomed pants I remember I had a T-shirt (Which I loved!!!) that was purple panting of the face of an guy who had the afro hairsyle. :D
I love the girls with the long hair and the boys had this mushroom hairstyle. I was very blonde when I was a kid and my mother loved this hairstyle so I used this practically all my childhood. ( And I admit that I would wear it again!!!! :) )

:D Dfb,

Yes, I remember "Miami Vice" very well! Shoes with no socks - guys wearing pink and pastel colors!! What was the world coming to! I'm just like you - tshirt and jeans and a comfortable pair of sneakers is all I need!!! I was not a fashion queen either! But I wouldn't trade those times for anything! What a hoot!

I couldn't say the same as both of you, guys.

I was a real fashion clown!!!!

You should have seen me. I wore those white suits with a black T-shirt ( :D ). I wore my hair just as George Michael. I was a teenager on those days and I wore the beard of two days. You just imagine a 16 years old kid with a beard of 2 days!!!! :)
