i hope Olivia has patched thingsup with Richard..wasnt the bad blood over failure to release karens solo album at the time? it would be neat to get a picture of the two! I wish olivia was featured in more documentries of the carpenters than just VH1.

On a related Dionne Warwick note, there is another chance to hear her BBC concert on Radio 2 (www.bbc.co.uk/radio2) on Wednesday 28th December at 1pm

"A cut-down but still unmissable version of the concert Dionne Warwick gave recently at London's Mermaid Theatre. It's a greatest hits collection of Burt Bacharach and Hal David songs that's been sitting in rich warm fertiliser for over 40 years, and Warwick's delivery is such that we get to hear her flower - with the BBC Concert Orchestra as her backing band. She must do shows like this all the time, but this feels like a one-off, a special. Lay yourself down in the path of her unstoppable vocal powers" Radio Times

Sounds good!

Here is an achive question and answer from Richard Carpenter

Fans Ask:
“How close were Olivia Newton-John and Karen?”

Richard:
“Karen and Olivia were very close, and I considered Olivia a genuine friend.”

The Coleman book says that Olivia was present when Karen presented the playback of her solo album to Richard.

It sure would be neat to have Olivia guest on Richard's new Christmas CD for 2006.

I dig Dionne Warwick. I can't believe it's been over a year since I dragged Karly to see Dionne in concert in Detroit. I think I scared her. Detroit can be interesting when it's late and you're waiting for a bus. The concert was remarkable, though. Yeah, baby!

Thanks for the info!

Haven't been on this site lately. . . sigh.

I saw Dionne and Air Supply two years ago here in Oakland. They were both great.

Since I live close, I wonder if it would be worth going to Dionne's LA concert? :bowdown

Hi Sheryl,

We have not seen your new Top Of The World pictures.

Have you gotten Karaoke? Karaoke was re-released in Japan (added "Sing" karaoke) with compilation CD as "Twenty-Two Hits Of The Carpenters [10th Anniversary Edition]”.

I have not seen Bacharach and Richard at the same place for long time.

This is Dionne's album on which "Close To You" appeared (1964). It's a very slow rendition.
She also recorded "We've Only Just Begun" in 1971.

A house is not a home
People
Close to you
The last one to be loved
Land of make believe
Reach out for me
You’ll never get to heaven
Walk on by
Wishin’ and hopin’
I smiled yesterday
Get rid of him
Make the night a little longer
