I REALLY love it!
I played the DVD on my computer and took the CD's in my car and listened to them on the way to and from work and all the sings I love from The Carpenters were on there.
The DVD is so cool, all the video's that are on the VHS tape I bought years ago.
I did a LOT of singing today!
NOW which should be the next Carpenters CD to get? Is it from the top? Would that be a good one?

Hey From The Top would be good for some of the rairities, but The Essential Collection is basically the same 4 disc collection but with more hits on them and minus a few songs from FTT. The sound quality of the Essential Collection ws also remastered better and released in 2002. Also contains more of the original album mixes. I would recommend either! The liner notes are great from the Essential Collection! I'm not sure if its the same on FTT but there is Commentary on each song by Richard. It all really depends if you want some of rare tracks/remixes on "From The Top" or Most of the rare tracks, more hits and original mixes on "The Essential Collection". I myself am very happy with the purchase.

hello DVB..as mentioned on the essential collection comments. Richard really intended to add a song from boston pops special and add the potato chip jingle..and perhaps a couple other rarities..but i believe, and i could be wrong here..somethng with david alley went wrong..either the timing and length or money to get these approved wouldnt be considered worth it. I made the tough choice and waited for a cd store to close and wait for its 50% off all titles to purchase my Essential collection box set..anyone else have any reservations on buying any Carpenters releases but ended up buying it anyways?
much regards,
Michael

Thats some interesting information! I had some reservations on getting all the full albums, but I just ended up buying the first 4 and "As Time Goes Buy" Don't regret it one bit and plan to get them all, many gems not on the compilations!
YouWinIPost, I posted the little clip here before in one of the posts. At the beginning you can hear Karen rehearsing the phrase "Let Me Be The One" from the chorus, then the song starts and continues as usual. Towards the end it doesn't fade out and you hear Karen say "Show me where the rest of the melody is, I'll sing it" very cute little additions there

Yeah, it's basically the trial cut of the song. The balance between her voice and the music is a bit off too because obviously it was just a run-through. But holy cow, she sings it beautifully... if you didn't pay attention you'd never know it was an outtake.

I hate my town. I can't find the "Gold" in any of my stores around here. Not even a release of any of their actual albums. Just compilation CD's that I already have from the "Love Songs" disc set! grrrrrr.
