Richard's Window

SOMEDAY87's Photo SOMEDAY87 03 Mar 2005

I found this track by Olivia Newton-John and it said it was from the TV movie of the same name. The song is kinda sweet. :)

Does anyone know what the TV Moive was about?

I know that the song is an unreleased tracks.

Does Olivia play in the film or does she just sing the theme? :hmm:

I googled this.

1975 TV movie telling the story of Jill Kinmont, the American Olympic ski contender and how she bravely coped with her accident which left her paralysed. Olivia sings the theme song Richard's Window.

Jill Kinmont wrote the linear notes to the album which say: "the concluding segment of the score is particularly satisfying, Olivia Newton-John's clear, mellow voice singing the poetic lyrics of Norman Gimbel perfectly underscores the importance of the love story and my relationship to Dick Buek. Her singing Richard's Window while 20 Paiute Indian children accompany my electric wheelchair down a country lane in Bishop sums up the full impact of the film and its importance to me."

From THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. That song would have been perfect for Karen...the first time I heard it, I thought of Karen.

It's a beautiful song, very light & airy sounding, one of Olivia's finest performances, too bad she has never released this on CD, Olivia is way over due for a box set, we should be so grateful to Richard for releasing soooo many cool box sets with neat tidbits of extras. Olivia has none, zippo. (I don't count the Grease Mega Mix as a bonus) :bowdown

This is one of my favorite tracks from Olivia. It's a pretty short song though.

She really is overdue for a box set!!

It would have been nice to have a big box set but I feel for her and had to get
the albums! :P

Hopefully I can see Olivia in concert this year! It would be great to actually see her and druel :P

If Electric Light has a box set then surley OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN should!! :bowdown

The song really is early Olivia, sweet and airy.

Olivia did some great covers of Bread's "If" & "Everything I Own"
I wish KC would have recorded some of their tunes.

(As I Type This I'm Listening To Olivia Sing "Hands Across The Sea" :hmm: )

Beautiful song. :bowdown
I knew there was a movie(?) "Hurry Up Or I'll Be Thirty"('73?) which had Olivia's song. But I had not known this song until I had a computer. Maybe I couldn't find this song and forgot it(?)

Around 1975 I started to listen to Olivia. -"Have You Never Been Mellow" & "Cleary Love".
I went to Budokan to see Carpenters(spring) & Olivia(December) in 1976.- "Come on Over" & "Don't Stop Believin'"

Olivia might sing "As Time Goes By" at my concert. Or maybe at her first TV Special(?)
She was very cute in white pants suits.
Karen told Olivia where she felt cold in Japan. Olivia wore long sleeves at my concert.

Olivia's project plans pop up and often disappear.
Where did "(2)" U.S. release go to? Duet with Karen. :hmm:
Where had "(2)" U.K. release gone? Olivia sang a song with Cliff Richard.
Olivia talked about duet with Japanese singer. But "(2)" Japanese release has duet with Cliff.

Box set maybe with only a few or several CD's has been postponed for several years.

Karen and Richard loved Bread. Karen sang "For All We Know"(Fred Karlin, Robb Wilson & Arthur James).
Does anyone have Olivia's "For All We Know"? :P
The drummer for Richard's one of live in Japan was Mike Botts of Bread.

Sakura, Have You Never Been Mellow ;) I think will always be my favorite Olivia song!

I keep checking her website for updated tour info....I'm considering making the 7 hour drive to Syracuse NY for her concert if she doesn't play anywhere closer to me. Thinking about the Carpenters makes me never want to miss an opportunity to see one of my favorites perform...who knows when it will be your last chance?! :o

Annie's computer is broken and I miss her!! :o :hmm:     :jump  :rofl :sing :( :2thumbs  There we go, now it's kind of like she's here.

Annie's computer is broken!! :jump ;) I'm very sorry to hear it. Can her computer be fixed? Or does Annie have to get a new one? I really hope she can use computer very soon.

Thanks for the info, Jules! :hmm:
By the way, what do you mean these? :rofl :( :2thumbs
Did you post them instead of Annie? Or are you :sing
when Annie is not hear or Annie cannot speak about lice?

Olivia went to Toledo, OH on Nov. 9th of 2003.

The Toledo concert is a rare opportunity for Newton-John’s fans, since it is her first extensive U.S. tour in 17 years.

Awww...thank you, Jules and Sakura!! Glad to see the emoticons again!! (and you guys, of course :D ). Actually, my computer is still broken, mainly because moron-bear here kept deleting stuff so I'd have enough disk space to download Matt's wonderful gifts (hmmm...this is all Matt's fault :hmm: ), and I kinda uh...deleted half of Windows and my entire audio system :o Hehe :D

So I'm at the library right now, hoping that they fix my computer real soon! Apparently it's serious though :hmm: :(

I miss you guys, too :( I'll be back in a few days, if not tomorrow :( Try not to burn the place down, okay? :hmm:

And Sakura - save me some lice for my return, okay?

I was very lucky when it came to getting 2. The 18.99 price had gone out of stock and it was a very expensive import. I think it was 40.00. I was looking in a Atlanta Tower Records and found the 18.99 one and Warm and Tender half price!!!

Olivia is like Karen in one respect, I can't really have a favorite song becasue their all so GOOOD :o

"INDIGO: WOMEN OF SONG"
I pre-ordered "Indigo" on HMV.AU
2,081Yen + Shipping from AU = 2,471Yen = USD $18.85 + Shipping
Amazon.JP said it was 3,404Yen. :o

I knew another cheaper price web shop which didn't need shipping fee after I pre-ordered "Indigo". And Japanese fans who ordered "Indigo" on the shop received "Indigo" much earlier than from AU.

"Carpenters Perform Carpenter" on HMV.JP
USA Import 1,899Yen
Japan Edition 2,548Yen
UK Import 3,464Yen :(

We often get USA releases cheaper than Japanese releases.
UK releases and AU releases are usually much expensive than Japanese releases when we purchase them at Japanese shops.

"Love Songs" by Olivia 2,548Yen
which contains
"Face To Face" with Barry Gibb
"Rest Your Love On Me" with Andy Gibb
"I Can't Help It" with Andy
"Take A Chance" with John Travolta
http://www.hmv.co.jp...asp?sku=1870312

"(2)" by Olivia Japanese Edition 2,548Yen
with "Let It Be Me"(with Cliff Richard)-Bonus Track for Japan
http://www.hmv.co.jp...asp?sku=1825305
You can hear audio sample of Olivia's duet songs on HMV.JP site.

Although I pre-ordered Barry Manilow's "Scores Songs from COPACABANA and HARMONY" which contains duet with Olivia, I had not ordered another Olivia's duet with Cliff which was released in UK last year. But my Carpenters friend oversea kindly sent me the CD. The song is "Don't Move Away". :D :)

Cliff's fan wrote that he said he couldn't visit Japan for so many years because Tatsu passed away. Cliff didn't know how to contact with Japan without Tatsu.
Tatsu was also a promotor for Carpenters in Japan.(1970, 1972, 1974 & 1976) Matt shared Karen's talk about Tatsu video with us. Thank You, Matt.
Karen presented her needle point work in Japanese to Tatsu. I read that it was on the wall of his office.
Tatsu was the first person who used BUDOKAN for concert. The Beatles. Paul sent message about Tatsu to TV Special last year. As I knew Paul would appear on the Special, I watch the program. They showed Karen and Richard's photo with Tatsu. :D (When I went to Karen and Richard's hotel in 1976, I happened to see Tatsu's Lincoln Continental. But I saw his picture for the first time last year.)

Missing you too Annie-Bear. :D By the way who's moron bear?

Whatever you do, don't let them tell you that you can't get your files back. You can!!! :hmm: A friend of mine came round to my house a couple of weeks back. She had important documents on her hard drive which had crashed. She took it to PC World (big in the UK) who told her that the data was totally unrecoverable AND they would charge her $100 just to reformat the disk.

Any way she brought it to my house around 6pm and we had all the files back by 8pm. B) Total cost :NIL

There are many ways to do this, and even if you've corrupted your windows files, you can create a small partition (using FDISK on a floppy), format the partition, then load up a basic version of windows on that partition.

Once windows is installed you can use windows explorer to get all (or at least most)of your old files back. Even if they've formatted the whole C drive (dolts) there are recovery tools (recovermyfiles, Uncheck etc) that will search for particular file extensions and restore the files. Don't forget to back them up on CD when recovered.

I don't expect you to understand this, but the techy guys should (perhaps you'll want to remove the dolts reference though :D ).

Wish I was there. Good luck.

Mikey.
