I was just watching the Academy Awards and during the commercials all of a sudden I hear Karen's voice and sure enough its Top of The World in a Aquafina water commercial. Very nice surprise

Haha, I was watching it too and just posted the same thing at the same time.

Oooh I see it now I didn't realize this was an old commercial, but still was surprising for me

Darn it. My husband is a channel-flipper when commercials come on.

I heard it also and was hoping it was something Carpenters related and not for some stupid water product. I still can't imagine paying over a dollar for a bottle of plain water! A quarter mabie but a dollar? Hope they paid for the use of the song! Macdonalds used Mack a night without the families permission and paid dearly and had to quit using it.

I guess that's what I get for not watching the Oscars! Missed out on hearing Karen on TV! Although, I DID watch some parts of it and I was reminded that the Carpenters performed on the Oscars once too.

Guess I have to find access to a television soon to check it out.

Ah poo!! I missed it!!!
I was definitely trying to get a couple hours of sleep before I went to work last night

My household has a huge Oscar Bash every year, and last night was no exception. (I make a fabulous, and potent, Oscar punch )

Anyway, I was visiting with some people in a different room when I heard a rumble!!

The whole party was staring at me!! I looked down to see if I had spilled any punch on my Phantom of the Opera costume. But no . . .
They were all saying at the same time, "Look Sheryl, hurry. . . its the Carpenters." Being slightly tipsy, I could not distinguish what the heck they were saying. Finally, someone s-p-e-l-l-e-d it out for me.

Barb told me that it wasn't Karen singing it. Is that true? Or was she just as drrrunk as I was?

Yeah!!! I actually taped the Oscars, so I will watch it and for the first time in my life, TREASURE a commercial.

I'm sure Richard was paid handsomely since he also wrote TOTW. Good to hear Karen in primetime TV. Maybe I will start watching again

I'm not sure if I like the fact that Richard allowed a water commercial to use the song.

I was happy to see the Dixie Chicks use "Top of the World" in their Top of the World tour. As you leave the auditorium after the concert is over, they play one verse and chorus of the Carpenters' Top of the World.

I also like when I hear the Carpenters in movies, like most recently the Starsky and Hutch movie with Ben Stiller.

I was surprised when I heard Karen in that scene from the new Starsky and Hutch movie. Wasn't expecting that

Loved the movie though ~ especially the cameo of the REAL S&H at the end. Paul Michael Glaser still has it
