Crescent Noon -csulb Performance ...

PA's Photo PA 25 Feb 2005

Memory returns :D -discussing Carpenter Center & Richard's concerts ....when we attended CPAC 10th Anniversary concert ...the next day thev Center staff opened their wonderful Arts facility to all interested visitors ..... :D

There were backstage tours of stage, rehearsal & guest artist green rooms, info on Center productions , guest companies , costume & make up rooms & much more ...performances by staff, local musicians etc .... :P

One of the outstanding events was a performance by University Choir -directed by Lee Vail -who was in the Choir 1966 -1969 alongside Karen & Richard ( Vail remains a close Carpenters friend) ..of one of the best Carpenter / Bettis songs :

CRESCENT NOON ( as released originally by Carpenters on their landmark Close To You album (1970) )

This was the perfect song for those choral harmonies to shine ....this was an outstanding live performance & a tribute to Carpenters as namesakes of Carpenter Center .... :P

Would love Richard to perform this song live with CSULB Choir for future concert ...Richard has performed another favourite original song : ONE LOVE with choir previously ....& that was out of this world .....

yes as you know peter Crescent Noon was recorded in 1969 with the CSULB Choir before it appeared on Close To You and though I had not seen Richard perform this one live it must have been a real treat for you to get to see that (your post indicates you enjoyed it). Thanks for sharing that I hope to one day to experiance a live performance by Richard at the Carpenter Center I know he would not dissappoint. :P
