As a result of Jules losing her files recently, I have uploaded four video files to the "yousendit.com" servers.
As Jules has now downloaded them, I have made them available for everyone to download while they last.
These are full screen size mpegs and can be played in Windows Media Player.
They normally stay on the servers for a few days or for a limited number of downloads, so get cracking.
The files are as follows (I'll list the oldest first):
1. Superstar - The Karen Carpenter story (Todd Haynes Doll Movie) 450Mb
2. The Dating Game 230Mb
3. The Tonight Show with John Davidson 1978 170Mb
4. I Need to be in Love Video 37Mb
Please go to the members section for the download links while they're still active.

I Need To Be In Love was the FIRST video of the Carpenters I had ever seen, period! Not bad for the first time seeing Karen!!!!
Now my favorite kick is the Tonight Show 1978! I like at the end, after all due credit was given to Cubby O'Brien, Karen quickly mentions all the other band members, then as an afterthought refers to Richard and herself.. "And us!" and the band members find that quite funny! Then she dances away to fade out. She is sweet!

I love loads of parts of this video, but my favourite bit is when they're off the aircraft looking down at the arrivals. Then they look at each other, turn back face camera and Karens face just lights up.
I'm always imagining them rehearsing that bit. I think they feel a bit awkward and funny pretending to shrug to each other, then they turn front and can't help but laugh. That smile is definitely genuine.
Also when Karen gets up to leave the plane and she acknowledges the handsome guy with that sweet sarcastic smile. Oooh hot stuff.

I've realised after seeing all these clips that Karen had such charisma, charm and sex appeal. Why she felt so inadequate is a mystery.

I love catching new footage and material for the first time, it's so exciting.... and it always leaves me with this sentiment, Paul.

Good observations. I agree with what you've said. She had some looks!

Agreed. So many women have that naturally, but don't see it. I guess you have to be a guy to notice!

Does anyone know why Richard didn't include this in the "Carpenters Gold DVD"
I wonder if richard likes it, he comes off as really genunie in this video
(which is a great change from the usual
)
Everytime I watch this thing I smile
(AND Believe You Me That I Don't Smile All That Much - I'm A Little Standoffish Like Richard I Guess)

Yeah, its sort of opposite here after I saw their TV specials. In this video, Richard seems outgoing, smiley and friendly. And Karen appears mostly to appear serious, stand-offish, sad. etc. (Which contradicts her variety shows where she seems to be goofy, outgoing and happy and he hardly wants to crack a smile.)
