I Do It For Your Love

Hey all
Just found a copy of this KC solo song, how prophetic was this!! It's a ballad very much in the Carpenters style (same as Something's Missing), but because of the lyrics I doubt if Richard would ever do anything with it!
'We were married on a rainy day
Sky was yellow and the grass was grey
We signed the papers and we dream away
I Do It For Your Love'
The rest of the song is much the same lyric wise, very strange!!

Agree Stephen, it is a good song.
It is a Paul Simon song which he wrote and recorded in the mid 70`s I believe.
His version is also good but Karens version and reading is somewhat more intimate and heartfelt. I think Karens version is the better one, although I am a Paul Simon fan too. The song is a very typical Paul Simon song I think.
As you say, it is similar of Somethings Missing as they are both intimate and lush I feel. I hope Richard releases them some day, I find her solo work to be very good and the unreleased just as good as the released.

The qualities of "I Do It For Your Love" are superb-contemporary, real, poetic. Her interpretation demonstrates her ability to caress words vocally. This is one good song.
"Something Missing" is also very good. This one gets stuck in my head from time to time.
Some of this work sounds like the stuff coming from Norah Jones and company. Very intimate pieces.

Cool that you mentioned Norah Jones, never thought about it before but Norahs songs and readings are very much like some of Karens performances.
I love her song Don`t Know Why. Karen would have sung that one great too!!
Guess she is yet another singer who you can tell has been influenced by Karen and her legacy.

I Do It ....is great Paul Simon song ....I have not heard Karen's solo version as cannot download at present .....one day hopefully.
Richard could certainly complete both this song and Something Missing for future Carpenters project or even Karen Promo Single ....even if other solo outtakes remain unreleased for longer period

I really don't like ''I do it for your love''
But I like ''Something's missing'', it's a pity that it's just an unreleased song!

I liked both of those songs and "Midnight"too. Shame they're not on a cd somewhere.
