Carpenters songs are heard in TV CM in Japan. There are original Carpenters songs
and cover songs.
Here are CM's which have some cover songs.

You can see CM, choosing 300k or 45k.
( There are 'Carpenters' and link to Universal website. ??? )

They say that TOSHIBA used "A Kind Of Hush" last year.

Interesting.....Carpenters songs need to be used for adverts / major films outside Japan and not just Carpenters classics such as WOJB in recent Starsky & Hutch screen film
There are many tracks that could be used for tasteful items ....not some tacky
cheap ads
Recently there has a cool jazzy short version of California Dreaming for Saab car adverts with California images .....really cool

I would'nt mind a song in an ad as long as it's in good taste. It does kind of cramp the style of people who write jingles. Just kidding.

Thank you for your messages!
I'm glad because I just wrote the information and I have not expected a response. Thanks!
Starsky & Hutch DVD will not be released in Japan. But Amazon.Jp says that they will tell a DVD maker that we request the release if we send emails to Amazon. So I emailed to Amazon. Wish us a luck. Release DVD which has "We've Only Just Begun" in Japan!!
I love Morinaga Hi-Crown Chocolate Commercial "From the Heart Comes the Soul".

1st song of DISC 3
Thank you, Karen & Richard!!
Adding to the above, last month we Japanese heard
"Honolulu City Lights"
"Those Good Old Dreams"
"Beechwool 4-5789"
"I Need To Be In Love"
"Happy"
"The Rainbow Connection"
"Desperado"
"Please Mr.Postman"
"Superstar"
"Top Of The World"
"We've Only Just Begun"
"Hurting Each Other"
"Touch Me When We're Dancing"
"Yesterday Once More"
"Goodbye To Love"
"Sing"
"I Won't Last A Day Without You"
"Only Yesterday"
"Jambalaya"
"Close To You" on TV programs (Of course, Carpenters original
)
and I think that "Top Of The World" live (around '74) will be on air on NHK BS2, May the 8th. It must be repeat of last autumn. Karen sang a little differently
in pale blue outfit. (She might also wear the outfit at live with Boston Pops.)
We Japanese fans are lucky about Carpenters.
One thing we are in trouble is the law.
We may not be albe to get foreign CD's in near future. (Japanese official CD's have been sold cheaper in other Asian countries, because prices are high in Japan. We accept the fact that we must buy Japanese CD's on high-price. But why will we be forbidden to buy American or EU releases?
AU releases are higher than Japanese, so I have not gotten them even if Richard said that AU LP's were great. )
Thanks for reading.
