Thanks To Whsoxfan For The Great Pictures...

LeadSister's Photo LeadSister 27 Apr 2004

Take a look at whsoxfan's pictures from her trip to California! Great!

First off... the new owners of the Newville house really need to trim that tree. :) lol And can you imagine living in a house you know KC passed away in?

I've never seen such a clear picture of the Lubec house. So that is neat to see.

Thanks so much for sharing these.

Pamela

ps.... if you see any gallery pages that are not 100% width or messed up... please PM me. Dont post it here. Thanks so much! :)

Thanks Pamela,

I did my best! I'm not the greatest photographer in the world!! The Newville house was really hard to take a picture of. That tree is so tall now and covers most of the front of the house. But you can still tell it's the house.

Great pictures Jayne, you go girl!!

As for the tree, it is in bad need of a trim. A few more years and the house is gone

Thanks Christian!

I told you people I was not impressed with the Newville house. I think it's starting to show it's age. But on the other hand, the cover of "Now & Then" is over 30 years old - so I guess it's only natural that the tree would be bigger. But it does need a trimming for sure. It covers almost the whole front of the house!

Thanks Cheryl and Jorge. I'm glad you both like the pics. I have a couple more to download - one from the Downey Methodist Church and one from the Polo Lounge of the Beverly Hills Hotel where Karen had her wedding.

I'll let you know when I download the pictures.

Ok,

I downloaded the picture from Downey United Methodist Church and from the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. And yes, that is me standing by the sign for the Polo Lounge. None of these pictures would have been possible if not for my friend Cindy. So Cindy, thanks for the great Carpenters tour! You're the best!

Hi all

Great shots, but I agree, I was there in the summer in 2001 and the trees were big then, they're HUGE now and well overdue to be cut back. I think the front half of the house (upstairs bedrooms, living room etc) must be constantly dark because of them.

I found a picture of K&R in front of the Newville House before it had the new sections added. That tree waaaay smaller back then, so was the house.
Is there still a garage for the cars under the bedrooms or was that removed when they rebuilt it?

Christian

I think the garages under the bedrooms don't actually exist, its just a facade for, I believe, the soundproofed studio in the house.

The 'real' garage is right down the end of the house, at the left hand end of the house as you are standing in front of it, tucked round the side.

By the way, I have said this before but I'd love to know how the house is laid out inside!! Where is the pool room, the kitchen, the lovely lounge room that looks onto the pool?? Grrr!!

I think one of those "fake" garage doors might be a real one, think I have seen one of them open, the one on the end.
If I am not mistaken, it might be the "music room"/pool room where they had all their gold records on the wall which is behind the garage doors. It looks so in The Karen Carpenter Story.
