It's not a genuine release I don't think. The film itself didn't have a soundtrack that I recall and a lot of the songs mentioned were not included eg. "Sing"

I very much doubt that the Todd Haynes film had an official soundtrack. I think that this is just someone trying to make some money.

Yeah, and Richard kept the rights of the music use off of his hands, so it would be a hell of an oddity if this cd was an authorized release and featured those songs in it! Maybe it's someone else performing them, I don't know.

EDIT: yep.

I just told you. The group recording the album is "Union Of Sound". It is not original recordings by any of the original artists, and it is not an official soundtrack CD.

All of that information is available on the Amazon page that you linked to.

I'm sure that there will be quite a few people taken in by this even if they play the samples which show it's obviously not Karen singing.

One of the many downsides to the internet is that rubbish like this can be peddled on the unsuspecting.

I didn't see them there the first time either biggrin.gif

Does anyone know if these sorts of CDs are allowed to be produced in terms of does Richard need to authorise use of the music ? Ok, it's not the original recordings being used in a film or something, but there must be copyright issues with such things ?
