Painful Thing About Losing Tony

I was more saddened by Tony Peluso's death than by any great performer's death since Marvin Gaye. It's because Tony was both vastly outstanding and vastly underrated. I've always wanted to meet him and will now never get that chance. Sometimes I wish he and Karen had hit it off. At any rate, RIP.

I think they hit it off to some extent, but Karen wasn't interested in him in a romantic way, although Tony seemed smitten.

Tony seems to be the only member of the band interviewed in any great depth for documentaries (apart from Richard himself of course), is this the case ?
I don't recall seeing many of the others talking about what they did or did not see and so on.

Bob Messenger and Danny Woodhams have to my knowledge never been interviewed for any of the documentaries out there. Gary Sims was interviewed for one, but he got emotional at one point and said he didn't live in the Carpenter years a lot because it was just so very sad. I'm guessing this is the reason he's not seen a lot either.

They say that time is a great healer, but I guess that is not always the case.
I guess that they feel that there is nothing to be achieved by being interviewed. Shame though, it's always interesting to hear someone's view of Karen and The Carpenters.

I think in Gary's case, he is still not over her death. He talked about how every once in a while something touched that nerve that is still very raw.
I think that Karen the person touched people in a way and had such an effect on the lives of those around her that few people do. Dorothy Hamill also broke down on a documentary talking about Karen, even after all these years.

For some, talking about such an event is all part of helping themselves to get over it and to move on. Also there is a difference between a private session with a psychotherapist and being interviewed for a documentary.

I agree. A lot of her fans would really be interested in hearing what these guys have to say....

How about her friend....Frenda.....she has also said sometimes she can't talk about it..(too many happy memories)...sometimes she can.....too let people know. Randy got to her in her"can talk" mode, thank goodness. Her memories shed light on many an issues Karen had.

I think that however much we find out, we will still want to know more and what we want to know the most we will probably never know.
