Quotes About Karen & Richard

I got the cd, 'Bacharach and Friends', from the library and came acrossed this quote that was in the cd booklet by Ronnie Milsap. "When I look at some of my all time favorite songs, Burt Bacharach was associated with them. I think about the Carpenters' 'Close to You'. To my ear, Karen Carpenter was the finest singer of the time."
This is what Carnie Wilson said in her book 'Gut Feelings'. "I knew I wanted to be a singer when I heard voices like Barbra Streisand and Karen Carpenter. My parents loved the Carpenters, and we played their records all the time at home. It was the magic in Karen's voice that was so soothing, and the lushness of the layered harmonies that were like soft clouds of sound."
The cd is from 2006 and the book 2001. There a bit old now, so if these were posted before, sorry for the repeats.

That's a great quote from Carnie Wilson!
I guess her dad and uncles weren't enough to inspire her to become a singer - she must have needed some female role models.
