The Carpenters Story Show

I went to a show on Monday called the Carpenters story which was promoted by Smooth Radio in the UK and it was a great 2 hours worth of their classic hits, the music was performed by a 9 piece orchestra and a singer (Clare Furley), now I know that you can't replace Karens voice but this girl did a good job of it, and what a pleasure it was to hear people play that music again and be so good with the instruments as well e.g the Tenor saxophone guy and guitar man both got spontaneous standing ovations during the songs for their solo bits in 'A song for you' , 'Rainy Days and Mondays' and 'Goodbye to Love' respectively , you can guess which solo bits they were!
The show kicked off with back display zooming into outer space where we hear the voice of DJ Tony Peluso leading into a rendition of Calling Occupants, it was followed by many of their hits which I've listed below and rounding off with Goodbye to Love.
We all know how popular KC and RC are in Japan and i noticed that there were quite a few Japanese people in the audience this night, obviously the word reaches a long way.
Songs performed
Calling Occupants
we've only just begun
close to you
can't smile without you
sing
Rainy Days and Mondays
Top of the world
A song for You
It's going to take some time
Now
Solitaire
Please Mr Postman
A kind of Hush
Sweet Sweet Smile
Jambalaya
I won't last a day without you
Only Yesterday
Yesterday Once More
Superstar
Ticket to Ride
For all we Know
All you get from love is a love song
Hurting Each Other
Goodbye to Love
I 've been to quite a few shows lately but this one i enjoyed the most.

I believe its been on a tour of the various regions of the country where Smooth radio is broadcast, this was the latest version, it was great fun i'd recommend it if you get the chance to see it.
I heard about it when I tuned in to the radio station and then found more info and booking on the website.

I think that there is a Smooth Radio in London (used to be Jazz FM I think) but can't find any mention of this touring anywhere near me sadly.
Sounds great, so will keep an eye out for it.
