Thanks for the heads up, but Amanda Holden and Ronan Keating do not exactly encourage me to watch. Of all the annoying people to have involved.......
I would like to hear Beverley Knight, Dionne Warwick and Chirssie Hynde sing some Carpetners stuff, but not "The Feeling".

Yeah, it sounds pretty awful. . .
But ANYTHING that increases sales of the Carpenters is good. And primetime on ITV is about as good as it gets. Maybe after this Richard can get that xmas album out for 2010. Or. . .god forbid. . .a few unreleased tunes.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The evening itself dones't blow me away but it's keeping the Carpenters in the media and on one of the most popular broadcasting channels in UK. It's showed that they haven't faded away in to the background which can easily happen with stars from the past. I think Richard is supposed to have some involvment in the eveining, don't think it'll be anything we haven't heard before but hey ho!!!

From ITV.com:
Forty years since the release of the Carpenters debut LP this musical spectacular will celebrate the sounds and successes of the influential duo with some of the greatest pop stars of today.
Hosted by Amanda Holden and Ronan Keating and made in collaboration with Richard Carpenter, Celebrating the Carpenters, sees the following artists take to the stage to perform their own unique versions of some of the Carpenters best loved songs :
Chrissie Hynde performing Superstar.
Dionne Warwick performing Close to You.
The Feeling performing Solitaire.
Beverley Knight performing We've Only Just Begun.
Noisettes performing Goodbye To Love.
Ronan Keating performing I Won't Last a Day Without You.
The Saturdays performing Please, Mr Postman.
And, exclusively for the show, Jamie Cullum and Kimberley Walsh will perform a duet of Rainy Days and Mondays.
Amanda says: "An evening of Carpenters music is my idea of heaven. I've been a fan of theirs for as long as I can remember and to hear some of my favourite current bands perform their greatest hits was amazing."
Ronan says: "The Carpenters are one of the greatest acts in musical history and every time one of their records comes on the radio, it's a magical experience. Being part of a show that moves the legacy of this great band forward is a great honour."
As the arranger of the Carpenters' most memorable songs, Richard reveals some of the secrets behind their success. He also offers unique musical advice to the new acts about the task they are to undertake and recounts some of the stories behind the tunes.
In addition to this, clips of original performances combine with behind the scenes interviews as the artists develop their new take on the unique Carpenters sound.
Celebrating the Carpenters is made by CPL and Globe Productions for ITV1. The producer is Rachel Ashdown and the executive producers are Danielle Lux and Victoria Ashbourne for CPL and Iain Funnell for Globe Productions.

There are going to be confliction view and opinions on here. Who knows, Amanda could be a fan. To me, whoever sings what song, no one can sing it like Karen and at least doing shows like this keeps the Carpenters Music alive as far as I'm conserned.
