Well...all I can say is that in this economy, she may not get the best price for it, but apparently has no interest in the emotion value of the ring. It's too bad that children often sell valuable memories away.
I'm at a loss what else to say...it's shocking.

This was listed on ebay years ago and then it was pulled. I believe it was listed between $6,000-$8,000.

Yes, it was owned by someone else, AFTER the daughter of Joanie....

Was not Harold and Agnes pretty old to be raising a 1 year old after Karen's death? How long did they raise her? Why did they have to raise her?

Joan was raised by the Carpenters BEFORE Richard and Karen were born. The ring would have been given to her by the family, 1 year AFTER Karen's death.

She had that ring long before she met Tom Burris. I think she bought it for herself. For some reason I remember reading it. I could be wrong. My memory isnt what it was right now. LOL

I had this crazy idea: I was dreaming that we'd gather money, all of we here at Leadsister, enough to buy that ring. And everyone of us would have this ring for -say- a month, and then send it through mail to another Leadsister member, and so on...
Wouldn't it be great! It would take a huge amount of confidence among each other, and I believe Karen would see us down here with a smile.
Well... I can dream, can't I?....
I've always had the strong need to have something in my hands that Karen had touched at least once, something autographed, wathever... My heart would bump!

Yes, I agree: Clearly it was long before she met him. It seems most likely that she bought it....

Yes, you can see that in that picture from 1973, she's wearing that ring.
