Seeing/hearing The Carpenters

Song for You man's Photo Song for You man 20 May 2009

I was watching a re-run of Home Improvement the other night. Al said something to Tim about "an old addage said by Carpenters" and then went into something about building....
Tim replied "another old addage by the Carpenters" and he began to sing "Close to You"......my kids thought that was pretty funny.

I am a hs choral director...and we get tons of catalogs from publishers trying to sell their newest songs/arrangements.

In the latest Shawnee Press, Inc. catalog is a new choral arrangement of "Superstar" arr. Greg Gilpin. In the description it says "who can forget this emotional #1 radio hit by the Carpenters?"........wasn't it only #2???

In the latest Hal Leonard choral catalog there are two Carpenters songs arranged for choirs:

"For All We Know" arr. Mac Huff for girls choir...has a picture on the front that I believe is the new back cover to the 40/40 CD. The description states that it is the 1970 pop hit by the Carpenters...

"We've Only Just Begun" arr. Rosana Eckert. It is arranged for SATB, SAB or SSA. the cover has a picture from the Rolling Stone photo shoot....Karen's arms folded and Richard sort of leaning on her shoulder.

Just thought I'd share.

Jonathan
