Tell us something that would surprise us! LOL Japan gets everything... we're just chopped liver everywhere else.
But really... that's cool. What's he going there for and will you be able to see him?

It's probably because Japan is a HUGE supporter of his and Karen's music, whereas the US is not.

Yeah... I'm just messing with Sakura and Japan. LOL They still show a huge support for The Carpenters so it's understandable why he visits there.

He wore another jumper on this time, but it wa cotton one, I guess. Richard was wearing someghing like Aloha shirt, once or twice, when he appeared on TV or press.
I didn't think that I was able to see Richad when I started this topic. Then Universal Music Japan setn a newsletter to fans who voted for "Carpenters 40/40 best selection". It told us that we may see Richard in Ginza Tokyo. 60 fans who bought 40/40 on April 21st could attend the ceremony which celebrated Carpenters CD sales in Japan, 30 million!!
He played Carpenters medley and talked about some about tribute album at piano at tha small hall.
UMJ man said that Richard came to Japan on Sunday in the previous week. An article told us that he was going to leave Japan on 24th.
Richard promoted 40/40 on TV, radio and presses. He appeared on TV programs for NHK and other TV and radio stations. NHK featured him, Richard played "Close to You" with new intro and with Karen in the screen.
In another TV program, Richard played the piano and Japanese singers sang "Yesterday Once More".
As posted in another thread, "40/40" has sold well. The highest debut album that ever released by Carpenters in Japan. Higher than "Now & Then", "Horizon" and "22 Hits of the Carpenters" sold over 3 million.

My sister and I returned to Ginza in the evening a little bit earlier than Universal Music told us to get there. We happend to see a car stopped in front of the buidling. Some people gathered with umbrella for persons from the car. Kristi appeared!! Colin, Mary and Richard!! Richard was asked for autograph for the huge 40/40 poster then they were heading upper floor.

Lucky fans got poster, 40th Anniversary tote bag or A&M logo T-shirt.
