GOOD!! the reason i am called "rckc everyday" is BECAUSE i, too, listen every day- helps me escape from daily annoyances, and calms me in any stressful circumstances...i like to find things to "analyze", and start new topics on, on this site, and really enjoy reading people's opinions and feedback on them.. like to get inside people's heads, especially when it comes to "carpenters stuff"....i was always a fan, and recall, as a young child, seeing them on tv, and feeling very entertained... as i grew into my teens- i am 40 now-- i recall being in freshman religion class, at an all- girls high school here in philadelphia-- which i hated, but managed to get through-- the whole 4 years, not just that religion class---the instructing nun, whose name i will not mention here, as she subsequently had alcohol problems .......entered the class on february 5, 1983, the day following karen's passing, with a carpenter's album under her arm...i did not know whether to pay attention to her noticeable limp, or the carpenter's album under her arm..."the singles"...she announced that "karen carpenter passed away", and proceeded to play a song from that album as our "reflection of the day"--the nuns and teachers did that there.....and i "re-discovered" my attraction to the music of the carpenters with her playing of that song...don't remember which one it was, but only know that i'd somehow remembered how much i'd liked it in my childhood..in the many years that have passed since then, i have been accumulating music, information, and anything else that has to do with the carpenters...i am discovering more every day, and enjoying more every day with much help and support from this website..some people can call it "living in the past", or laugh, etc..but it's one of the few things in this world that really, really grabs my interest and makes me wonder to myself: "why can't i have a hobby that interests me the way that THEY DO?"....

Anyway, woolf, welcome to the site! You'll like it here! Actually, no one has to keep us on a leash, we're all so tied to the Carpenters music and Karen's story that we stay by choice!

Thank you all for the welcome! I first got hooked as a kid, I think about 8-9 years old..a music teacher played one of their records, I fell in love! Anyway, through the years of growing up, etc..I did not listen as much. One day my daughter found a CD of theirs and asked me who they were, she is 8 as well. So I put the CD in, and the rest is history! My kids love the Carpenters, and I can't believe I ever went without listening to them. It is like coming home again! I really miss KC, but I am glad to have their music and this site to visit!! Thanks...

LOL...I meant keeping the members who bite other members on a leash.

woolf....my kids appreciate the Carpenters. My sons are 19 and 17 now. My daughter recognizes them but is on a Weird Al kick right now. LOL
